Chapter 485:
Alexa, caught in her failed attempt, panicked and tried to pull away. “What are you implying? I’m confused. Let me go! If you don’t release me immediately, I’ll call the police!”
Linsey chuckled coldly. “Go ahead. We’ll discuss everything—the reason you led me here, your attempt to push me down the stairs. Tell me, what’s your real motive?”
Panic flickered in Alexa’s eyes. “You’re misunderstanding! I was just making sure you were behind me—nothing more. Don’t twist my actions!” Alexa protested, her voice filled with frustration. “This is unfair! I was only trying to help you find your way, and now you’re accusing me? I’m just a cleaner!”
Unfazed, Linsey tightened her grip and responded calmly, “Whether it’s a misunderstanding or not isn’t up to you. We’ll go to security. The cameras in this hallway will reveal the truth. Let’s see how you defend yourself then.”
Determined to uncover the truth, Linsey was certain this was more than mere suspicion. The cleaner’s actions were deliberately harmful—there had to be a deeper motive.
Without another word, Linsey firmly grasped Alexa’s arm and began pulling her toward the stairs.
Alexa’s eyes widened in panic, struggling desperately to free herself. Her resistance was futile; weakened by her prolonged illness, she could not escape Linsey’s strong hold.
Linsey gathered unexpected strength and firmly pulled Alexa down toward the first floor.
“Let me go!” Alexa screamed desperately.
As they approached the hotel’s security office, Alexa’s panic surged. In a sudden, frantic move, she stepped forcefully onto Linsey’s gown, causing Linsey to jerk backward and lose her balance.
“Ah!” Linsey cried out in shock.
Seizing this opportunity, Alexa pushed Linsey aside and ran.
“Stop right there!” Linsey shouted, immediately chasing after her.
However, in her haste, Linsey twisted her heel and stumbled forward sharply.
A faint sound echoed in the hallway, immediately followed by a sharp, intense pain shooting through her ankle.
Linsey managed to catch herself just in time, quickly extending a hand to brace against the wall before hitting the floor. She inhaled sharply, trying to ignore the pain radiating from her ankle, and lifted her head.
The cleaning lady was nowhere to be seen.
Linsey’s frown deepened.
The woman had spoken strangely and behaved even more suspiciously, and now she’d disappeared without a trace.
What was she hiding?
Linsey couldn’t shake the feeling that this woman’s secret was somehow intertwined with her own life—though exactly how, she couldn’t yet comprehend.
Otherwise, why would a cleaning lady she’d just met immediately attempt to harm her?
Meanwhile, the Lawson family’s banquet was in full swing. As the event officially began, Jeffery stepped onto the stage.
“Everyone, welcome to our banquet.”
