Chapter 1403:
Linsey blinked, caught off guard by his words.
“Can we move this along?” Collin glanced at his watch, his patience wearing thin. “I don’t have all day.”
“Let me think…”
A flicker of regret stirred within her after saying that. Collin harbored countless secrets—ties to Gorman, Kylee, Dustin, and more. Far too many mysteries she yearned to unravel. But in her haste, she had limited herself to a single question.
With that realization, she ventured cautiously, “Can I ask a few more questions?”
Collin raised an eyebrow. “Is that your question? Then the answer is—”
“No, no!”
Eager not to squander such a rare opportunity, Linsey hurriedly interjected with a denial.
Collin found her flustered demeanor mildly entertaining, a subtle grin playing at the corners of his mouth. “Go on, ask your question. Don’t drag this out,” he prompted, his voice softening, losing its earlier sharp edge.
“I would like to know…” Linsey hesitated, her delicate features revealing her uncertainty. From the whirlwind of questions swirling in her mind, she settled on the one she most wanted answered. “Are you the founder of CR Corporation?”
The moment the words escaped her lips, her heart raced uncontrollably, hammering in her chest.
Collin’s expression shifted faintly—too subtle for her to catch. “Why are you asking that?” he responded, his voice neutral, giving nothing away. “What do you think you know?”
“Why are you dodging with another question?” Linsey hadn’t anticipated this deflection, and a hint of frustration crept into her voice. “You have to answer me first.”
This question had gnawed at her for ages; she had lain awake the night before her first day, endlessly speculating about his true role. No amount of guessing could match the certainty of hearing it directly from him.
He had just made a solemn vow, so surely he wouldn’t lie. Linsey’s gaze fixed on him, her nerves taut with anticipation.
“Yes,” Collin answered plainly.
True to his nature, he opted for honesty, upholding his word.
Linsey’s eyes widened, her breath hitched, and a chill ran down her spine. “You’re… serious?”
She had demanded the truth repeatedly, and now she was doubting it?
Collin gave a wry, inward smile but maintained his calm exterior. “It’s the truth.”
“Then what about Dustin?” Linsey barreled forward, a flood of questions spilling out before she could stop herself. “If you’re the founder, why do you stay out of the spotlight? Why didn’t you speak up and admit who you really were when I told Dustin how much I admired him last time?”
She had more questions ready to tumble out, but Collin’s deep, resonant voice cut through. “Linsey.”
