I am The Dominant Alpha - Chapter 91

Chapter 91:

“Then prepare yourself, Elara. Because I will come for you. And when I do, Talon Pack will fall.”

Without another word, he disappeared into the trees, his presence vanishing as swiftly as it had come. I watched him go, the weight of his threat settling over me like a storm cloud. I knew he would strike soon, that he would not waste any more time on hollow words.

As I turned to leave, Dante emerged from the shadows, his expression grim.

“He didn’t take that well.”

I nodded, the cold certainty of war settling over me.

“It was never about peace, Dante. He wanted our submission, and when he didn’t get it, he showed his true intentions.” Dante’s gaze was fierce, unyielding.

“Then we prepare, just as we planned. Silas won’t find a divided pack when he comes. He’ll find us united, ready to defend our land.” I took a deep breath, the strength of his words fueling my own resolve.

“Yes. Talon Pack will stand. And when he arrives, he’ll see that we are not so easily broken.” Together, we walked back toward the compound, the quiet of the forest heavy with the knowledge of the battle to come. But as I looked around, at the trees, the land, and the sky above, I felt a fierce pride swell within me. This was our home, our family, and we would defend it with everything we had.

Silas wanted submission, but what he would face instead was the full strength of Talon Pack—a force bound not by fear, but by loyalty, by love for the land and each other. We were ready. And when Silas came, he would learn what it meant to challenge Talon Pack.

POV: Elara

The tension within the compound was thick as we began preparing for the inevitable clash with Silas. Wolves moved with quiet determination, sparring in the training grounds, reinforcing the perimeter, and gathering supplies. Every pack member understood the stakes, and I could feel the anxiety simmering beneath their resolve. We all knew that Silas’s offer of “peace” had been a thinly veiled threat. War was unavoidable now, and our preparations had taken on an intensity I hadn’t seen before.

Still, despite the unity and strength we were building, I couldn’t shake a feeling of uncertainty that lingered beneath my own determination. I knew I’d made the right decision in refusing Silas, but I also knew that he would come at us with everything he had. And with a spy like Finn already uncovered within our pack, who knew what other secrets he might still hold over us?

Late in the afternoon, as I walked through the compound, I found myself near the edge of the training grounds, watching Dante as he worked with a group of wolves. He moved with a calm authority, guiding the younger warriors through defensive maneuvers, his eyes sharp and focused. He’d been instrumental in helping us strengthen our defenses, his experience and tactical knowledge invaluable. The respect he had garnered from the wolves was palpable, and I could feel the pack’s confidence growing in his presence.

But my feelings for Dante had become more complicated. We’d forged a fragile trust, a bond built on shared purpose and mutual respect. And yet, I knew there was something more—something I had tried to ignore. Dante was not only my ally but my fated mate. And as much as I fought against the pull I felt toward him, I couldn’t deny it any longer. His loyalty, his strength, and his understanding had woven themselves into the fabric of my heart in a way I hadn’t expected.

As if sensing my thoughts, Dante looked up and caught my gaze. His expression softened, a hint of something unspoken in his eyes, and he made his way over, dismissing the younger wolves for a break.

“Elara,” he greeted, his voice low.

“How are you holding up?”

I took a deep breath, allowing the honesty to show in my answer.

“Better than I thought, but… uncertain. It’s one thing to prepare, but knowing what’s coming… knowing we may not all survive…”

He nodded, his gaze steady.

“That uncertainty will always be there, Elara. But I know this much—your pack believes in you. They’ll follow you to the end.”

The night I left Talon Pack still haunted me. It was a wound that had never fully healed, the scar of a choice I wasn’t sure had even been mine to make. Betrayal had a way of warping everything, turning what was once familiar into something alien and unrecognizable. Leaving had felt like both the ultimate act of selfishness and a necessary sacrifice to protect the pack I had once called family. Even now, I couldn’t decide if it was ambition or loyalty that had driven me away. For weeks, I’d battled the tension within the pack—the constant push and pull between my vision for its future and the council’s devotion to tradition. The elders saw my instincts, my drive to lead, as dangerous. I told myself I wanted to protect Talon Pack, to guide it toward a better future, but there were moments—quiet, biting moments—when I wondered if it was my pride whispering those promises, not my heart.
