Lucas hesitated, then sat beside her, his hand closing around hers. His expression softened, turning gentler. “There is something else. The DNA test report for you and Carola will also be ready tomorrow.”
Belinda lowered her gaze.
“Actually, Holley almost admitted it today. My real mother… is Carola,” she said.
Lucas showed no surprise and simply replied, “That confirms what we suspected all along. Still, just to be certain, we’ll wait for tomorrow’s DNA test results.”
“Yeah, I know.” Belinda gave a small nod.
“Are you scared?” Lucas asked gently, slipping an arm around her shoulders.
Belinda bit down on her lip, her expression clouded with emotion. “The closer it gets, the more nervous I become. I don’t even understand what’s happening to me.”
“This is completely normal,” Lucas reassured her. “But discovering who your real parents are should bring you joy. And it proves that Holley and Baker treated you the way they did only because you weren’t their daughter. Once you reunite with your true parents, I’m certain they’ll treat you well.”
After speaking, Lucas leaned forward and pressed a soft kiss to Belinda’s forehead. “Don’t torment yourself with worry. Rest well tonight, and let’s face tomorrow’s results together, alright?”
“Okay,” Belinda agreed softly, then lifted her eyes to him. “Lucas, I’d like to stay with Kenia tonight.”
Lucas knew Kenia must be deeply saddened now, so he didn’t argue and simply nodded. “Of course. Go ahead.”
Belinda showered and then made her way to Kenia’s room. When she entered, Kenia was sitting on the sofa, quietly weeping as she held a framed photograph.
The moment she noticed Belinda, she quickly set the frame aside.
Belinda didn’t need to see it to know it was a family portrait of the four of them from years ago.

Smiling softly, she walked closer. “Grandma, I’ll sleep in your room tonight.”
Kenia wiped her tears and nodded. “Alright.”
That night, the two of them lay in bed without speaking much.
But neither of them slept well.
The next morning arrived.
It was Saturday, and Lucas stayed home with Belinda instead of going to the office. He was waiting with her for the results from the testing center. Before long, the doorbell rang.
Belinda’s heart tightened with anxiety. She was certain it was one of Lucas’s men delivering the report.
But moments later, the Happer family stepped slowly into the living room.
Startled, Belinda immediately rose from the sofa, her eyes fixed on them.
