Chapter 1891:
They were utterly heartless.
“Carola,” Galen’s deep voice cut through the air, deliberate and heavy. “Do not worry. Their family will pay.”
Kylee’s lips trembled. “Grandpa…” The word slipped out before she could stop it, heavy with a desperate hope she could not hide.
But Galen’s gaze met hers, hard and unyielding, and the rest of her plea died in her throat.
Baker’s composure finally cracked. He stepped forward, his voice urgent. “Mr. Happer, I know that Holley and I were wrong. We swapped the children with selfish intent, and we admit it. But Kylee… she is innocent. She knew nothing about it, not until now. We kept her in the dark all these years.”
His voice wavered, thick with desperation. “Whatever punishment you decide for Holley and me, we will accept it. But Kylee has called you Grandfather for so long. She has lived with you, loved you, and trusted you. She is truly innocent. Please… spare her.”
By the end, he was begging, his shoulders shaking.
“Innocent, you say?” Galen let out a low, cold laugh, full of scorn. His sharp gaze shifted to Kylee. “Kylee, I will ask you one last time. Did you know anything about your parentage before?”
Kylee replied without hesitation, “No, Grandpa. I swear I didn’t know anything before. I always believed I was my mother’s daughter. I never imagined—never expected—that it wasn’t true.”
For a moment, silence pressed down heavily on the room. Galen’s expression hardened with quiet disappointment.
At first, he had considered giving her another chance. After all, they had lived together for so many years.
But she had thrown that chance away herself, disappointing him once again. In his eyes, Kylee’s character had been shaped by Baker and Holley’s inherent selfishness and indifference.
Turning, he fixed Baker with a ruthless stare. “You own shares in those two testing centers. That’s how you managed to alter the results of the DNA tests before, isn’t it?”

Baker’s face drained of color. He hadn’t expected the Happer family to uncover even his most deeply buried secrets.
Before he could respond, Galen looked back at Kylee, his tone cutting and merciless. “And you? Didn’t you already suspect the truth? Otherwise, you wouldn’t have taken your blood and Carola’s to conduct a test in secret.”
Galen’s words struck like a thunderclap, and Kylee’s expression changed in an instant.
They knew about that too?
Kylee’s heart thudded wildly against her chest, but she forced herself to remain composed and offered an explanation. “Yes… I did once wonder whether I was truly my mother’s daughter and secretly had a DNA test done. But the results showed that my mother and I were indeed related by blood.”
The truth was that the first report had been tampered with by someone Baker had sent.
Galen fixed her with a piercing stare. “Even now, you’re still denying it? You went to another clinic for a second test after that, didn’t you?”
