The side of her face that had been hit swelled rapidly, the skin flushing an angry red. A trace of blood welled at the corner of her mouth.
The sheer force of the slap was unmistakable.
“Watch your mouth! Insult Mrs. Clark again, and it won’t stop at a slap,” the bodyguard exclaimed, his tone sharp.
Holley’s whole body stiffened for a moment. She recoiled, trembling, too afraid to resist further.
Kenia’s chest tightened at the sight.
Unable to bear it, she turned her head away, her face etched with sorrow.
“Let her go,” Belinda ordered coolly.
The two bodyguards obeyed at once, releasing Holley from their grip.
Belinda set the glass of juice down, folded her arms across her chest, and fixed Holley with an unwavering stare.
“Think carefully, Holley. Will you drink this juice yourself, or shall Kylee take it instead?”
Holley’s expression darkened when she heard that.
Her reddened eyes brimmed with despair as she teetered on the edge of collapse.
But her hesitation didn’t last long. With shaking limbs, she pushed herself upright, reached for the glass with trembling hands, then shut her eyes tightly and swallowed the liquid in one desperate gulp.
Belinda’s emotions tangled in her chest as she watched. She had always believed that Holley was too selfish to deserve the title of mother.
Yet now, she realized she was wrong.
Selfish as she was, when it came to Kylee, Holley was willing to sacrifice everything.
Setting the empty glass down, Holley lifted her bloodshot eyes to Belinda.
“I’ve drunk it,” she rasped.
“Can I leave now?”

At that, Holley’s face changed again.
Her body stiffened as fear took hold. Her voice broke as she stammered, “W-what else do you want to do to me?”
