“Understood,” Elwood replied with a slight nod.
Honestly, he felt torn.
Part of him longed for Kylee to be his daughter. Yet another part of him didn’t.
Deep down, he yearned for Carola to have borne him a child, but he recoiled at the thought of that child being Kylee.
His emotions were tangled in a web.

She hadn’t anticipated that, after she had risked her life to save Kenia, Belinda’s first words to her would be about that matter.
In that instant, her resentment toward Belinda deepened.
Biting her lip, Sarai lowered her gaze and murmured, “I’m sorry… I messed up. I broke my promise. I shouldn’t have slipped back into Owathe, but I was so lonely, and I missed you all terribly, so I acted on impulse.”
She lifted her eyes to meet Belinda’s, pleading, “Belinda, I’m truly sorry. I know I was wrong before. Please, just forgive me this time, I beg you. I swear I’ll never have any improper thoughts about Mr. Clark again. Please don’t make me leave. I’ve lost my family; you’re all I have left…”
Her tears flowed freely, her sobs shaking her frail frame. The emotional strain caused her injuries to flare, and she winced in pain.
“Sarai, don’t cry. You need to stay calm; your wounds can’t handle this,” Kenia urged, grabbing a tissue to dry her tears and comfort her.
Belinda stood there, watching, her face cold and unmoved.
Before she could say anything, she noticed blood seeping through the bandages wrapped around Sarai’s body.
