Chapter 1808:
He turned to Tamara and said seriously, “Mom, I don’t want to hear you say things like that again.”
Tamara’s temper flared. “So you’re still taking Carola’s side?”
Elwood met her glare head-on. “There’s no way Carola would do something like that.”
Tamara scoffed, “Why not? Didn’t you already go to see her? If she even suspects you’re digging into your past, she’d definitely know you might question whether Kylee is your daughter.”
After a pause, she continued, “That’s why she probably had someone tail you and your subordinates. Once she found out you took blood samples from both you and Kylee for a paternity test, she likely bribed the people at the lab ahead of time to tamper with the results. Doesn’t that make perfect sense?”
“That’s impossible!” Elwood’s stance didn’t waver. “The woman I love would never stoop to something like that.”
Tamara opened her mouth to argue further, but Nalani stepped in.
“This situation might not be tied to Carola at all. It’s just as likely that Kylee and her biological father, Baker, are behind it.” Nalani paused, her brows drawn together in thought. “Maybe they’re trying to secure a better future for Kylee by doing this.”
Tamara’s expression hardened. Her lips curled into a cold smile, and she said sarcastically, “Even if what you said is true and Carola didn’t tamper with the test, she definitely knows about the matter. How could she possibly not know who fathered her child? If Baker and Kylee were bold enough to fake the paternity test, then Carola must have given her silent approval. Otherwise, wouldn’t they worry that she’d expose them and ruin everything?”
With that, Tamara shot Elwood and Nalani a scornful look. “So you see, regardless of who actually tampered with the test, Carola can’t be innocent. In fact, I’m convinced she was the one who changed the results.”
After hearing what Tamara said, Nalani fell silent.
As much as she hated to admit it, Tamara had a point.

Carola was definitely involved in the matter.
Elwood, on the other hand, stayed quiet.
Watching him, Tamara let out a slight chuckle. “What’s the matter, Elwood? Still refusing to face the truth? If you doubt it, we can do something to confirm our suspicions. How about this…”
She went on to explain her plan. Elwood didn’t say a word, but the look on his face showed his agreement.
Zaria, watching quietly, couldn’t help but cheer inside. She was eager to see how everything would turn out.
At four in the afternoon, visiting hours began for the ICU at the Grand Plains General Hospital.
Belinda brought Kenia and Margie to the entrance of the ICU, gave them a few quick reminders, then hurried back to the Cardiac Surgery Department to work.
