Chapter 1803:
At his words, Kylee’s forehead creased, a subtle tension gripping her.
If Elwood went ahead with the banquet, it was clear that Kylee would face a significant obstacle because of Tamara. When the time arrived, Tamara was almost certain to insist on a new paternity test.
Kylee felt uncertain about her ability to navigate this challenge successfully.
Yet, the prospect of being acknowledged as a member of the distinguished Wright family after the banquet filled her with exhilaration.
Many would undoubtedly envy such a prestigious honor. Following the robbery incident at Mingo Jewelry Store, her social standing had plummeted, leaving her with few allies.
However, once it was revealed that her biological father was the head of the Wright family, the most prominent of Soling’s four great families, everything would change.
People would eagerly seek her favor.
Additionally, the prospect of owning a ten percent share in the Stellar Nexus Group fueled her enthusiasm.
High risks promised substantial rewards, and she was prepared to take the gamble.
She trusted that Baker would find a way to help her with the challenge.
With that thought, Kylee nodded, then hesitated as a concern surfaced. “What about Mom?” she asked.
After a brief pause, Elwood responded, “I’ll talk to her.”
“Alright,” Kylee replied, falling silent.
At the Grand Plains General Hospital, as the lunch hour neared and her shift was almost over, Belinda’s phone buzzed.
She took out her phone and saw it was Nalani calling.
Her brow furrowed slightly as she answered the call. “Hi, Nalani.”

Nalani’s voice came through. “Belinda, you were busy last night, but you’re free now, aren’t you? Let’s grab lunch near your hospital, or even at the cafeteria there.”
Belinda’s lips tightened, her feelings conflicted.
She wanted to say yes and not let Nalani down, but thoughts of Kylee held her back.
With a hint of sorrow, she said softly, “I’m sorry, Nalani, I’m tied up at noon, too. I have a patient to attend to.” It was the only excuse she could muster.
“Really?” Nalani’s tone sharpened, clearly displeased.
Before Belinda could reply, a colleague approached. “Dr. Wright, you have a visitor.”
“Okay, thanks,” Belinda responded, then turned back to the call.
“Nalani, I’ve got to go now. Let’s talk later.”
