Chapter 1799:
“You’re back already?” Belinda asked, startled by his swift return.
Lucas settled beside her, his eyes filled with concern. “What’s happened?”
After a brief pause, he added, “You don’t just leave work early and come home for no reason. Something’s up.”
Belinda’s lips pressed together lightly for a moment. “Something did happen.”
She had no intention of keeping Sarai’s situation from Lucas, so she recounted everything.
As he listened, Lucas’ expression shifted.
He let out a low, sardonic chuckle. “Quite the coincidence, isn’t it? She just happened to be there.”
Belinda couldn’t help but smile faintly at their shared suspicion. They both had the exact same thought.
“Whether it was truly a coincidence or something more, we’ll have to investigate the matter to find out,” Belinda said.
“I’ll have someone dig into it,” Lucas said without hesitation.
His eyes narrowed slightly, sharp with intent. “I want to know how Sarai made her way back to Owathe and ended up in this area. And whether she had contacted anyone before she returned.”
When Belinda heard Lucas’ words, her eyes sharpened as she turned to face him. “You think Sarai’s sudden return is part of some scheme?”
“Without a doubt,” Lucas replied, nodding firmly.
A cold smirk crossed his face. “Sarai knows full well that if we discovered she was back in Owathe, we would make her leave again. But saving Kenia changes everything. Kenia is bound to feel grateful toward her and might even approach you herself, pleading for Sarai to stay. How could you say no to Kenia? With her support, Sarai could easily stick around and maybe even rebuild her bond with Kenia.”
His gaze grew icier as he continued, “Getting close to Kenia means getting close to us. If Sarai’s planning something against us, that makes it far easier to pull off. These are just my suspicions for now, but I would bet the truth isn’t far off.”

Belinda listened in silence, her expression unreadable.
When she had first heard that Sarai was the one who saved Kenia, her gut had screamed conspiracy.
After the mess with Sarai and Holley, she had lost all trust in them.
She recalled how Sarai had only come clean after her talks with Holley had fallen apart, a move that left her deeply disappointed.
It became clear that Sarai never truly believed she was in the wrong. Her apologies were hollow, forced by circumstance rather than genuine remorse.
If Sarai had truly felt guilty, she wouldn’t have waited until her deal with Holley had collapsed to reveal the truth.
