His unwanted wife, the world's coveted genius - Chapter 1710

Chapter 1710:

Kenia’s eyes drifted, her gaze turning deep. “Holley… she’s my daughter, my blood. Cutting her out completely, never speaking to her again—it’s not something I can easily do. Maybe someday, my heart will soften, and I’ll find a way to forgive her. But now is not the time.”

Belinda nodded, her expression resolute. “I understand, Grandma. Just trust your heart and don’t let others’ opinions sway you. At this stage of your life, you can follow what feels right; no need to overthink every decision.”

“Alright,” Kenia replied, her voice warm with gratitude.

After a bit more conversation, Belinda excused herself and headed back to her room. As she entered, she spotted Lucas slouched on the couch, exhaustion carved into his face as he rubbed his temples.

Belinda approached quietly and began massaging his temples with gentle, soothing motions. The tension in Lucas’s face slowly melted away.

“Exhausted?” Belinda asked softly.

“Yeah,” Lucas murmured, eyes still closed, his voice low and weary.

“Then just relax. I’ll keep massaging you for a bit,” Belinda said.

After about five minutes, Lucas opened his eyes, reached for Belinda’s hand, and guided her to sit on his lap. She settled comfortably, wrapping her arms around his neck.

“Where were you tonight? You arrived home pretty late,” Belinda said, her tone curious but gentle.

Lucas wrapped his arms around her waist, resting his head in the curve of her shoulder, his voice rough. “I had dinner with Johnson and Vincent. We ended up talking about Faye.”

A spark of interest flickered in Belinda’s eyes. “And? What did they say?”

Lucas sighed. “At first, Johnson stayed quiet, and Vincent didn’t believe what I said. But when I shared what you told me, they both went silent.”

His tone grew heavier. “I’ve already got people looking into Georgie. I told them to dig deep into Faye’s background, too. Let’s see if anything suspicious turns up.”

Belinda cradled his head, her fingers gently threading through his hair. “Don’t get too caught up in it. What I mentioned was just a hunch, nothing solid. Chances are I might be wrong.”

Lucas lifted his gaze to meet hers, his expression thoughtful. “On my way home, I thought of something.”

“What is it?” Belinda asked, her curiosity piqued.

Lucas spoke in a low voice, barely above a whisper. “Do you remember that evening we spent at Tuky Mountain? Down at the bar, you and Bethany conspired, deliberately switching those cards around, and somehow managed to coax Johnson into confessing his feelings to Catherine?”

Belinda gave a slow nod, her memory stirring. “Yes, I remember that night clearly. What about it?”
