Silence settled over Lucas, heavy and brooding, as he stared at the floor.
Vincent’s shock lingered, his mouth slightly agape. “But she’s your niece!” he finally blurted, his voice cracking with disbelief after a long pause.
Lucas leaned closer, his words measured. “Maybe there’s more to Faye’s identity than we know.”
He then recounted the conversation Belinda had shared with Harold, his voice steady but laced with unease.
Johnson and Vincent sat in stunned silence, the weight of the revelation sinking in.
Johnson broke the quiet, his voice barely above a whisper. “Bethany had her suspicions before, too. She thought Faye might not even be blood-related to you. I never imagined that might be real.”
Vincent leaned back, running a hand through his hair. “So, what’s your next move?”
“I’ve got people digging into it,” Lucas replied, his tone grave, each word heavy with intent.
He paused, then continued, his frustration bubbling to the surface. “We still haven’t pinned down who shoved Belinda off Mount Tuky. Every guard, every staff member up there that night—they’ve all been vetted. Nothing. Even folks with small grudges against her? Clean. Are we supposed to believe some ghost pushed her?”
His tone was thick with frustration.
Vincent caught the implication, his eyes widening again. He leaned forward, his voice low but urgent. “Hold on. Are you saying… Faye might’ve done that to Belinda?”
After asking this, Vincent calmed down and thought carefully. Surprisingly, the possibility didn’t seem so far-fetched.

Johnson spoke evenly. “If Faye isn’t actually related to Lucas, and she knows it, her behavior—especially her constant jealousy toward Belinda—starts to look very suspicious. In that case, it’s not out of the question that she could have been the one who pushed Belinda that day.”
Vincent went quiet, clearly agreeing with Johnson’s reasoning. The room’s atmosphere grew heavy, tension settling like a fog.
“Lucas,” Johnson said, turning to him with a grave expression. “If, and I’m only saying if, it turns out Faye was the one who pushed Belinda, what would you do?”
