Crazy for her - Chapter 83

Chapter 83:

Charlotte woke up to a clean and tidy room.

The room was very simple, but quite stylish, and there were a few sketchy things taped to the walls.

The light gray curtains were gently lifted in the wind and it was cool.

Where was she?

Charlotte sat up slowly. Her arm ached, and only when she looked down did she see that she had gauze wrapped around it.

“Are you awake?”

Hearing a warm voice, Charlotte raised her eyes.

Manfred came in under her surprised gaze, carrying a glass of warm water in his hand, and handed it to her.

“Have some water.”

Charlotte stared at him for a moment before reaching out to take the glass. She was indeed thirsty and her lips were dry. After taking the water, Charlotte drank it.

Manfred said, “Slowly.”

Charlotte’s movement was a heartbeat, as she felt Manfred’s voice.

It was so soft!

She wanted to put the cup down when she finished it. And Manfred helped her wipe the water from the corner of her mouth.

Charlotte froze in place.

What was he doing, had he touched the corner of her mouth with his finger?

Realizing this, Charlotte sharply tilted her head back and avoided his touch.

Manfred didn’t realize that his movement confused her. He took the cup from Charlotte’s hand.

“Get up, I’ve cooked for you.”

At the mention of food, Charlotte’s stomach undeniably rumbled.

She blushed and hurried to cover her stomach.

Manfred smiled and his gaze was gentle, “Get up quickly.”

There was no trace of mockery in his eyes and his look at her was calm. Charlotte nodded and got up.

After getting up, Charlotte was surprised to realize that her hospital gown had been changed.

She unconsciously grabbed the corner of her clothes.

“Don’t worry, the clothes were changed by the maid” Manfred explained and Charlotte snapped back to reality, blushing.

She said nothing and he knew what she was thinking. Charlotte followed him to the dining table with immense embarrassment.

There were several plates and soup.

Charlotte was hungry for a long time, couldn’t help swallowing a mouthful of saliva and sat down at the table.

“Eat then.” Manfred smiled faintly, poured a bowl of rice and brought her a pair of chopsticks.

“Thank you.” Charlotte thanked him, sat down and began to eat. She was very hungry.

She hadn’t eaten all day yesterday, but she was tenacious.

As a child, she starved for three days, but she survived.

She couldn’t have an accident without eating for a day. Charlotte stuffed rice into her mouth, thinking she had to be strong.

The nightmare she had as a child was over.

Aldrich’s betrayal and her family’s lack of closeness had ended.

And she endured being forced to marry Kennedy.

Six months later she could leave here.

When the time came, she was to find a city she liked and then settle down, find a good job and raise the child.

Tears unconsciously filled her eyes, and finally the tears fell all the way to Charlotte’s bowl.

But her movements did not stop, she kept putting the rice in her mouth.

Manfred smiled at her at first. And when he saw that her eyes were slightly red and shedding tears, the smile on his face turned around.

He sighed lightly, picked up the chopsticks and poured the food into her bowl.

“Eat more vegetables.”

Charlotte sucked in her nose, but couldn’t hold it in. When Manfred served her the food, she looked up at him.

For a moment, the pair of beautiful, water-filled eyes crashed into Manfred’s heart.

The action of her hand was a heartbeat, her thin lips pursed unconsciously in a straight line.

Charlotte’s mouth was still stained with rice. She felt ashamed of this look. But right now she was disgusted. And the food in front of her reminded her of her childhood, when she was rescued by the police from the trafficker.

Her parents did not come to pick her up, and it was the police who hugged her heartily, took her to the police station and bought her the food.

At that time, she was silent for a long time, suddenly picked up the bowl to eat.

The policeman also sighed suddenly and helped her with the food.

“Little girl, eat more vegetables.”

At that time, Charlotte was still small and screamed.

Now she was still sad at such a comforting gesture from Manfred, even though she had grown up, married and had a child.

More tears fell.

“I’m sorry, I don’t want to be like this.” She sobbed, put down the bowl and turned her back to him.

She was sad.

That experience was one of the darkest days of his life.

She spent three days at the police station at the time.

When all the missing children were picked up by their parents, who rushed over, she stayed there three days before her mother arrived, and the first thing her mother did was scold her for being disobedient, asking her why she was running around, and then slapped her on the butt in front of all the police.

Charlotte wanted to cry at that moment, but unconsciously restrained herself.

She just looked at her mother with wide eyes.

Why, didn’t her mother love her? Didn’t she care about her? Why did other mothers spoil their children, but she was different?

A jacket covered Charlotte’s body, withstanding the temperature and the strange man’s breath.

“It’s hard, isn’t it?” Manfred sat next to her with a tissue. He reached down and wiped away her tears, “Cry and you’ll be fine. But then you have to eat, or you’ll get sick.”

Charlotte’s hand trembled slightly. She looked up at Manfred, her eyelashes quivering softly, “Thank you.”

Manfred smiled faintly, “Not at all, are you better after crying?”

“Mm.” Charlotte nodded her head.

“Then have a bowl of soup first.” Manfred handed her a bowl of soup, and Charlotte could only reach out and take it.

“When I went to the hospital yesterday, I saw Kennedy’s car in the parking lot, were you with him?”

At the words, Charlotte’s movement gave a jolt.

“Kennedy has a cold face but a warm heart, he’s good to you.”
