Chapter 73:
What did she want?
What Charlotte wanted most was to live a normal life with her husband, then have two cute babies and grow old happily.
But Aldrich cheated on her and the mistress got pregnant.
And she was forced to marry Kennedy, whom she did not like.
Thus, what she wanted was impossible to get.
Suddenly, her eyes calmed down from so much struggle, as if she gave up her goal.
“Whatever.” So she gave up fighting and let Kennedy hold her.
The prey naturally had to resist, and the tenacious life was interesting.
The sudden surrender of her arms made Kennedy’s desire to taunt her disappear, and with a cold stare, he pushed Charlotte away.
Diana stood her ground and gave him a puzzled look.
Just now he wanted to humiliate her, but now he was giving up?
“Go to the company.”
Kennedy said in a cold voice.
Nathan hurried to push him to the car. Seeing that Charlotte was still standing in the same spot, Nathan called out to her, “Assistant Wilson, aren’t you going to the company?” Hearing this, Charlotte came to her senses and got into the car.
After arriving at the company, Charlotte returned to her workstation and sat down.
After working for a while, she got up to make Kennedy some coffee, but suddenly remembered that Kennedy hadn’t had breakfast in the morning, so she didn’t know if it would be good for his stomach if she made his coffee now.
After a moment’s thought, Charlotte changed a cup of hot tea for Kennedy.
After pouring it, Charlotte sent it to Kennedy, and as she reached the office door, her footsteps suddenly stopped.
What was she doing?
What did it matter to her if drinking coffee was bad for her stomach? It was her stomach, so why should she think about him?
Thinking about this, Charlotte’s heart tore as she clenched her teacup.
But, come to think of it, he had gone out with her and hadn’t had breakfast because of her. So it was only natural that she would substitute coffee for tea.
After self-soothing, Charlotte knocked on the door.
“Come in.”
Kennedy’s voice was still cold with little emotion.
Charlotte entered, placed the tea on her desk and hesitated for a long time before speaking, “Well…”
Before she could explain herself, however, Kennedy’s cold gaze had settled on the teacup, narrowing her eyes, “Where’s the coffee?”
“You haven’t had breakfast, drinking coffee isn’t good for your stomach, so……” Before she could finish her words, Kennedy scolded her, “Who allowed you to take the liberty?”
Charlotte, “I…”
Kennedy raised her eyes and landed on her face with sarcasm.
Suddenly, Charlotte couldn’t get a word in edgewise.
“Get out!”
Her hand trembled. Charlotte tried to suppress the anger in her heart, turned and walked out of the office.
After leaving, Charlotte leaned against the wall, her body unable to stop shaking.
She meant well, but she disliked him like this.
Charlotte looked down and thought she would never do something like that again.
After thinking about it, she returned to her post. Seeing the teacup on her desk, her eyes gradually darkened.
However, Charlotte did not know that after she left, Kennedy looked at the teacup with a complex expression and her eyes became deep.
The hand holding the pen tensed silently and her thin lips pursed.
Why was this woman doing something like this?
Why did she put up with everything, even if she was so angry?
She turned and walked out with her head down.
What exactly did she want?
Charlotte was deep in her own thoughts. At noon, walking to the canteen, she realized she was hungry.
As she was ready to go to the rice, Charlotte smelled the pork tails. Her stomach flipped, she covered her mouth and ran to the bathroom.
After vomiting, she felt faint and came out of the bathroom with her hands clutching the wall.
She washed her hands and wondered why she could be so reactive today. Could it be because she hadn’t had breakfast?
Charlotte didn’t go back to the cafeteria, but went down to the noodle store for a bowl of vegetarian noodles in soup.
Charlotte went upstairs only after she finished eating two of them.
After going upstairs, Charlotte, according to the usual practice, first made a cup of coffee for Kennedy, and went to the door, but found that the door was only half open. The sound of two people talking came from inside.
“No news for now?”
Kennedy’s eyes were like electricity on Nathan’s body, as if a large mountain was pressing down on his shoulders, so that Nathan couldn’t straighten his back at all. “Mr. Kennedy, please allow me to explain.”
“Okay.”
“Two days ago at the hospital we found two candidates, but we’re not sure. We originally wanted to invite them, but the two women suddenly ran away, so……”
“Ran away?” Kennedy narrowed her eyes, the dangerous aura seeping from her body and her long fingers tapped the table.
Nathan’s back suddenly broke out in a cold sweat, “We’re looking for them, I think we’ll find them soon.”
Kennedy pursed his lips and spoke sharply, “I’ll go personally.”
“But your legs……” said Nathan.
Kennedy stared at the desk, as if in thought.
A moment later he asked, “Are you sure the identities of the two women match?”
“Yes, but you have to confirm it yourself.”
Just as the words trailed off, Nathan’s phone rang.
Nathan looked at it and discovered it was a message from his men, and his face exploded with joy.
“Mr. Kennedy, they say they have found the two women.”
Kennedy furrowed his eyebrows, “Let’s go!”.
Nathan nodded and pushed Kennedy toward the door. Charlotte startled and hurriedly ran to her station, then hid the brewed coffee behind the cupboard. She couldn’t let Kennedy find out.
Otherwise he would think she was deliberately eavesdropping.
The office door opened. Charlotte saw the figures of Kennedy and Nathan coming out, remembering their conversation from a moment ago.
They seemed to be looking for someone. And Kennedy seemed to care very much about that person.
Charlotte was curious to know who it was that was making Kennedy worry.
Why didn’t she follow them to see?
