Crazy for her – Chapter 55

Crazy for her - Chapter 55

Chapter 55:

“If you don’t trust me, I’ll write you an IOU. I’ll pay you back when I’m gone.” He stared at her. Charlotte could tell the distrust in his eyes, so she couldn’t wait to step forward.

“Stop!”

Charlotte stopped at the command. She looked at him, not knowing what to do.

“Back off.”

Charlotte didn’t know what was going on, but she still turned slowly because it was Kennedy speaking.

And then?

“Go away.” Kennedy ordered sternly.

‘What’s going on? I thought we still had a problem to solve.’ Charlotte said to herself. However, she realized that they were in the company and Kennedy was the boss, so she had no choice but to leave the office.

Back at her own workplace, Charlotte suddenly remembered that Gerald had been assaulted in the cafeteria the other day. Kennedy proclaimed that someday he would cripple Gerald. Charlotte wondered if Kennedy meant it.

She hoped he didn’t.

She opened her laptop and set to work hard, but in less than two minutes she got sleepy.

No way! Charlotte propped her head up with both hands. She was an assistant and had to work. She leaned back and read the files for quite a while. Finally, her sleepy head fell back on the hard surface of the table with a loud thud.

Bang!

Charlotte woke up with her hands on her swollen forehead.

“Ow!”

She had no more patience with the files. All she wanted was to get up and get some coffee.

When she returned with a cup of coffee in her hand, she met a familiar figure coming out of the elevator.

“Charlotte.”

It was Kennedy’s older brother, Manfred.

“Hello, Mr. Manfred.”

Charlotte greeted him hurriedly. She clearly knew who he was, so she called him Mr. Manfred.

Manfred, like everyone else in the company.

Manfred walked toward her. He wore a white shirt, looking warm and modest.

“Call me Manfred. We’re a family. Is Kennedy there?”

Charlotte nodded. “She’s in the office.”

“Okay.”

Manfred glanced at Charlotte before leaving. Then he laughed and whispered, “Next time, you should drink less. It’s bad for your health.”

Charlotte looked surprised to hear him. She asked, “What do you mean, Mr. Manfred?”

She wondered why he knew she drank too much, or did he still have the smell with her.

“I happened to run into you and Kennedy when you came back last night.”

Manfred suddenly reached up and rubbed her head, and said, “You shouldn’t have drank so much, it’s bad for your stomach and your skin.”

Then he walked over to Kennedy. Charlotte stood still for a long time before she reached out and touched the bottom of his hair.

She was so surprised that Manfred merely rubbed her head.

To be honest, Manfred was a very nice gentleman. He always wore a tender expression and spoke softly. In addition, he was also a rather handsome man…..

Charlotte patted her head.

What was she thinking?

“Why would I care about him?” she thought to herself.

She got up and took a seat as soon as she realized how inappropriate that was.

Manfred stayed in Kennedy’s office for quite a while. Charlotte wondered what they were talking about. She had a feeling something bad was going to happen.

Ten minutes later, the elevator door opened again and several people came out. As soon as she could tell who they were, Charlotte understood where her bad feeling was coming from.

The visitor was none other than Mr. Reynold Moore. He asked Charlotte to go and fetch Gerald.

An elderly man followed Mr. Reynold Moore, trying to pull the angry old man back.

An idea crossed Charlotte’s mind as she watched the scene. She turned around and entered the office without knocking. That seemed a bit rude to her, but at least she got the attention of the two men as quickly as she could.

They both turned to look at her immediately.

“Charlotte? What are you…?”

“Mr. Reynold is here!” said Charlotte and kept her gaze on Kennedy. She was biting her lower lip.

Kennedy remained calm, while Manfred frowned and sighed. “I didn’t expect you to come to us so quickly. Kennedy, I don’t want to judge you, why don’t you go down and meet him? Then you won’t have to…”

Bang!

Before he could finish his sentence, the door was pushed open. Lord Reynold came striding in, followed by two elders.

“Ungrateful brat, making me walk so far to look for you. Kennedy, don’t you know how to behave like a child?”

The old man’s questioning was resounding and furious.

Charlotte’s face changed and she quickly turned away.

Kennedy’s eyes seemed cold and empty, his voice pitiless.

“Grandfather, I am my father’s son, not yours,” she said, and her lips twisted, giving Lord Reynold a wicked smile.

Obviously, he was trying to provoke Lord Reynold.

“You are…”

Lord Reynold’s eyes went wide, filled with anger. He scolded, “Is that your way of talking to your grandfather?”

“So what?”

Kennedy laughed and continued, “Are you done now, can you excuse us, please?”

“The old man deserves your respect, Kennedy! Don’t act like that.”

“You’re in no position to judge me! Who do you think you are to come into my office and lecture me? Go back to your place of work and mind your own business!”

“You’re…” Manfred choked on the words, but continued, “We’re your elders in the family! I don’t care how you treat me, but you should at least be more polite to Grandpa!”

“Polite? ” Kennedy grimaced and said, “I wasn’t raised to be an educated person.”

Mr. Reynold stomped his foot. “You still blame me for this?”

Kennedy didn’t answer. Charlotte watched their faces. She seemed to have picked up an important piece of information from Kennedy’s words.

Why had she said that, what did it mean?

Was it…?

Charlotte’s thought was interrupted by Lord Reynold’s snort. He paced and sat down on the couch. “I don’t blame you for that because no one taught you to be polite, but you should at least try to behave yourself. What the hell happened between you and the Carter Group?”

Kennedy said nothing.

Charlotte looked silently at Kennedy. The man looked down, and his eyes were dark, as deep as the ocean, emotions stirred.

“The cooperation with the Carter Group was my idea, why did you change it without my consent? Even though I didn’t mind the change, why did you strike it, do you have any idea of the trouble this will cause us?”

“Grandfather,” Kennedy suddenly called out to Mr. Reynold, and sounded serious.

Mr. Reynold was slightly surprised. He made no reply because he was waiting for what Kennedy would say next.

Kennedy raised his eyes and smiled mischievously. “I’m the president of the Moore Group…to cooperate or not with the Carter Group, the decision is up to me.”

“You have to convince me first if you want me to listen to your words. What is your reason for not cooperating with the Carter Group? Convince me or I will fire him.”

“Fuu,” Kennedy snorted. “Try me, if you dare.”

“You’re…” Lord Reynold was so furious that he immediately stood up, pointing trembling fingers at Kennedy and scolded, “How dare you speak to me like that!”

Charlotte panicked on hearing that. She was the one who had provoked the incident, but Kennedy hadn’t mentioned a word about it.
