Chapter 48:
Yes, Charlotte understood.
She should be satisfied that she could have another marriage.
But, seeing that Belinda didn’t feel sad or care about her, Charlotte felt especially sad.
Did she not care how she felt?
At this thought, she lost her appetite for food.
Charlotte took a few bites of rice and put down her chopsticks, “Dad, Mom, I’ve eaten at the Moores’ and I can’t eat anymore. I’m going upstairs to get something.” With that, Charlotte got up and went upstairs.
Seeing this scene, Belinda couldn’t help but clench her mouth and said, “Charlotte blames me?”
Hearing this, Bruno sighed, “I don’t think so.”
“If she doesn’t, she must have had a good meal at the Moore Family and despised our food?”
Bruno couldn’t help but frown. “What are you talking about?”
“Am I wrong? Just look at his expression.” Belinda angrily threw down the bowl and chopsticks.
She didn’t want to eat either.
Charlotte went back to her room. When she opened the door, she saw that her room was in disarray. Frowning, she went in and glanced around the room.
It wasn’t like that when she left. Someone must have come and moved her things.
Charlotte went to open the dresser drawer and pulled out the small box. Only then did she discover that the notebook was not there.
Charlotte turned pale and bit her lower lip.
Christina must have gone into her room. Thinking about this, Charlotte turned around and went to look for Christina.
Christina was now hiding in her room and talking to her boyfriend on the phone.
“No, I really don’t have an appetite. I don’t want to eat it. Will you cook and send it to me? Okay, okay, I’ll wait for you.”
There was a knock on the door. Christina was impatient, “Honey, wait a minute, it might be my mother.”
With that, Christina opened the door and said before she saw who the person was, “Mom, I’ve said several times I don’t want to eat, don’t bother…”
Christina was stunned and stared at the man who appeared in the doorway of her room.
Charlotte looked at her coldly.
“Sister… Why are you here?”
Charlotte looked behind her. Christina’s room was in perfect order, but hers was in disarray.
Christina swallowed saliva and put the phone to her ear, “My sister has come to see me, I’ll call you later.”
She quickly hung up the phone.
Charlotte walked into the room, as Christina hurried to stop her.
“Sister, sister, what are you doing?”
Charlotte stopped and held out the box to her.
“Where is it?”
At the sight of the box, Christina turned pale and averted her gaze. “What is this…how should I know?”
“You don’t know?”
“Yes, I don’t know what it is, how would I know where it is?” Christina smiled and took Charlotte’s hand. “Sis,” she said kindly, “it’s been a long time since you’ve been back since you got married, does the Moore Family treat you well, do they harass you?”
“If they harassed me, would you want to replace me?” Charlotte looked at her quietly.
She looked uncomfortably at Charlotte for a long time. Then she let go of Charlotte’s arm and turned away, “Sister, you know it’s impossible. I have a boyfriend.”
“Yes, you have a boyfriend, so you can do whatever you want, dare you say you haven’t touched the thing in the box?”
Christina suddenly turned around, “Sis, I didn’t take the notebook from you, why are you asking me?”.
Charlotte: “…Did I say it was a bankbook?”
Christina: ‘Oh, no, I didn’t mean it’.
“Sis! That’s not true. I accidentally saw it last time, but I swear I didn’t really take your passbook. You went out of your way to earn money, how can I move your money?” At this point, Christina started using the trick of acting like a spoiled child again, stepped forward to take Charlotte’s arm, and said in a soft voice, “Sis, I’m your sister, how could I do that?”
“Because you’re my sister, I know what you can do.” Charlotte pushed her away mercilessly, then held out her palm toward her. “Give me my free one back.” Christina’s face turned blue.
“Sister, I didn’t take it.”
“Give it back to me.”
She secretly saved the money for many years through hard work. There were tens of thousands of yuan, how could Christina spend it, she had to get it back!
“What are you doing?” as they were arguing, Belinda’s voice came from the door.
“Mom!” Seeing Belinda, Christina hid behind her as if she saw God, “Mom, my sister accused me that I stole her notebook, but mom, I didn’t take it.”
Hearing this, Belinda immediately put on a look of circumstance and asked, “Charlotte, how can you accuse your sister unjustly – don’t you know where you put your own notebook?”
“I left it in my room, but my room was in disarray, and who but she could have got into it so easily?”
Hearing this, Belinda immediately turned her head and looked at Christina behind her.
Christina said, “Maybe it was a burglar? I didn’t take it.”
“Charlotte, Christina said she didn’t take it, believe her.”
Charlotte, “Mom, it’s all my savings. If there was a thief, you’d know. And if there was a thief, why did he only come into my room? If you and Dad didn’t catch him, who else would?”
“Stop it!” Belinda snapped angrily and said, “I took it, okay? We’re short of money, so I took it to support the family. Is that how you talk to me? Have you taken me seriously as a mother?”
Charlotte, “Mom!”
“What, now you’re proud to marry into the Moore Family? Now you despise our food? It’s your second marriage, don’t take yourself so seriously. I’ve spent your money, do you need me to borrow the money and pay you back?”
Charlotte, “……”
She looked at Belinda in disbelief. She couldn’t believe those words were coming out of her mother’s mouth.
“Mom, why, I married into the Moore Family, as you demanded. But why, why, why are you doing this to me?” asked Charlotte with trembling lips.
Belinda snorted, “What have I ever done to you? You blamed your sister as soon as you got home, did I say a word about it?
If you don’t feel well, get out of the house!”
