Chapter 382:
Grace’s breathing suddenly quickened. She was so nervous that she could only put her hand under the table and watch them approach.
Seeing her expression, Melissa smiled at her.
“You didn’t say personality is more important than looks, did you?”
Hearing what she said, Grace blushed and said softly, “Mom, Annie is a nice person. If he wasn’t a trustworthy man, she wouldn’t introduce him to us.”
“You’re right.”
Soon Annie and Kennedy came to them.
Annie and Melissa hadn’t seen each other in a long time. The two missed each other. They greeted each other and then sat down.
“You, let me introduce you. This is Kennedy Moore. Kenny, this is my colleague’s daughter, Grace. Say hello to her.”
Kennedy didn’t want to come here. He just sat emotionlessly in his seat with his cool expression.
Even when Annie asked him to say hello to Grace, he remained seated.
Then Grace reached out her hand and said to Kennedy, “Hi, my name is Grace. You can call me Melissa.”
After that, Grace smiled, showing her white teeth.
Kennedy looked up and his cold eyes fell on her face. After a while, he said, “Hello, Miss Lam.”
He did not extend his hand, his attitude was cold and distant.
The other three people stopped at his words.
Grace was stunned. She had told him to call her Melissa. However, he merely called her Miss Lam.
It was very embarrassing.
“Kennedy!” Annie gritted her teeth and glared at him.
Kennedy stilled and didn’t react.
Grace awkwardly waved her hand back and smiled. She said softly, “I’m sorry. Annie, don’t blame him. He didn’t know me until today. Mr. Moore is a reserved gentleman. After all, we just met today. We should be polite to each other.”
Annie already knew Grace was a polite and nice girl. However, she hadn’t expected her to be so considerate. She was touched by her words.
Annie changed her attitude toward Grace. She said apologetically, “Melissa, I’m sorry. My nephew is a good man. But he has a hard time getting along with others. He’s always distant and lonely. He doesn’t care much about my feelings. So please don’t worry. He has a warm heart. You will find out after you get along with him for a longer time.”
Hearing her words, Kennedy frowned.
Warm?
Kennedy had never considered himself warm-hearted.
He was rendered speechless by Annie’s words.
Grace, however, was very pleased with Kennedy.
She was not angry with his coldness. On the contrary, she had a more favorable impression of him, that he was cold and kept himself chaste.
Being an excellent girl, she had many suitors. The people around Grace flattered her and were enthusiastic about her. But she had seen those boys send the same gifts to other girls as they pursued her.
At that moment she felt very disappointed. She had lost interest in enthusiastic men.
Kennedy was cold and handsome. He was her type.
As long as she made an effort, she believed he would be attracted to her.
Then he would be her boyfriend.
Thinking about this, Grace became excited.
Grace was too young to repress her emotions. She was shy and settled for Kennedy. Annie and Melissa were experienced. They understood her thoughts.
They smiled and got up together. They said they wanted to go shopping and left the two young women.
They walked out of the cafeteria together.
“It’s embarrassing, this daughter of mine…to be honest, it’s the first time I’ve seen her so attentive to a man” Melissa said embarrassed.
Annie smiled and said, “Never mind. It’s a good start to your relationship.”
“But…” Melissa was worried, but didn’t finish her words.
“You know what you’re worried about, Kennedy is an aloof man. But I think Melissa is very smart. If they can be a couple in the future, Melissa will be good at handling his temper.”
“Well, Kennedy is very outstanding. I hope they can be together.”
In the cafeteria, the two sat in their seats and said nothing.
Both were silent.
The atmosphere was awkward. Grace looked at Kennedy and found that he was sitting in his seat without emotion and was not embarrassed at all.
However, Grace could not stand the embarrassing situation.
She smiled gently and gave Kennedy a look. She said, “Would you like something to drink, Mr. Moore?”
Before Kennedy could say anything, she got up and called the waiter over.
“What would you like, miss?”
Grace looked at Kennedy and asked, “Mr. Moore.”
Kennedy looked up.
He said, “A cup of black coffee.”
He didn’t want to say many words.
Then Grace said to the waiter, “I’d like a cappuccino, thank you.”
“Okay, please wait a moment.”
When the waiter left, Grace glanced at Kennedy. Then she lowered her gaze and asked quietly, “Mr. Moore, do you have any hobbies?”
Kennedy looked at her coolly.
Grace was a freshly graduated girl. She looked young and naive. He was not at all interested in this type of girl.
“No.”
Grace paused and then asked. “Mr. Moore, do you always work in your spare time? Don’t you take a break to enjoy yourself?”
“Miss Lam,” Kennedy called after her. Grace looked up and met his deep eyes.
“Our meeting is over.”
Grace was startled and asked, “What?”
Seeing that Kennedy was about to leave, her face changed. She stood up and said, “Mr. Moore, do you have a girlfriend?”
Kennedy stood still and did not answer.
“I don’t think Annie lied to me. If you have a girlfriend, she won’t let you meet me. Since Mr. Moore doesn’t have a girlfriend, why don’t you keep dating me?” Grace spoke very fast as if she was afraid Kennedy would disappear if she spoke slowly.
Kennedy didn’t speak. Grace glanced at his back, took a deep breath and then addressed his forehead.
“Is your aunt forcing you to meet with me today? Otherwise you wouldn’t come here, would you?”
Hearing her words, Kennedy frowned.
“You know my thoughts, get out of my way.”
“But Annie and my mother just left. If you go, will it be an embarrassment to me as a girl? You can do me a favor? Stay here for a while, please.”
