Chapter 37:
Okay, fine, it was cloying.
Charlotte pursed her lips. “I’ll go out first.”
Kennedy was silent, so Charlotte left the office after standing there for a while.
When she came out, she found herself looking ridiculous.
How could she be so stupid to think Kennedy had done it for her? It was impossible. He had been displeased with her, how could he do anything detrimental to his own interests?
Charlotte, she overestimated herself.
After work, Charlotte returned to the Moore Family and the maid told her to go to the study.
Thinking about what had happened last time, Charlotte clutched her clothes.
It was impossible not to go. Charlotte could only nod her head and reluctantly went to the study.
Compared to the pressure she had felt before, the pressure inside the studio felt like a mountain on her shoulders.
“Mr. Reynold.” Charlotte bit her lower lip.
Mr. Reynold sat down in front of the desk. Looking at the slender Charlotte with his sharp eyes, he narrowed his eyes. “Did Kennedy cancel cooperation with the Carter Group?”
¡¡¡¡¡Of course he did!!!!!
When the servant had told her that Mr. Reynold wanted to see her, she had known his purpose.
He was right. Mr. Reynold was not going to the company, but he knew about this matter, so he had arranged for someone in the company.
Lies didn’t work, so Charlotte nodded.
“Well, I just found out.”
Lord Reynold threw the books on the table to the floor in anger. The huge sound made Charlotte startle. She couldn’t help but take a step back.
“How dare you! How could you cancel the collaboration with a big company like the Carter Group?”
The anger made Charlotte realize the importance of this project.
“Christina!”
Charlotte suddenly straightened up. She had almost forgotten that she had married into the family for her sister.
“Yes?”
“The cooperation with the Carter Group can’t be canceled. Go find Gerald Carter and find out the reason!”
What? Charlotte’s face changed a little, but she dared not disagree.
After leaving the studio, Charlotte was somber. They had already found Gerald. Even if she went to him, the Carters would not agree to cooperate with the Moore Family. Even if the Carters agreed, Kennedy might not.
So should she tell Kennedy about this?
But if he did, Kennedy would know that his grandfather was watching him.
For a disabled man, if he knew his families were on guard against him, he would be hurt.
It was difficult.
Charlotte felt like she was in the middle of a storm in a big family.
When she went back to her room, she closed the door and found a small bed in it. She was so scared that she thought she had the wrong room, and when she went to leave, she found that everything in it was hers.
What was going on?
Charlotte stood in front of her little bed, staring blankly.
Had Kennedy arranged it for her?
Then Kennedy came back. Nathan pushed him in.
Kennedy was expressionless, but when he saw her standing in front of the small bed, he flashed an unnatural look.
“You’re back.” Charlotte walked over to him and pointed to the small bed. “That bed…”
“Yes?” Kennedy raised an eyebrow and asked in disgust.
Charlotte shook her head. “Just…”
“Just what, you think I bought you the bed?” said Kennedy coolly.
Nathan, who was in the back, said to Charlotte with a smile, “Miss Wilson, it’s easy to catch cold for girls who usually sleep on the floor, so I sent you this little bed. do you like it?”
Charlotte, “……”
Her eyes darkened.
Nathan had actually sent it to her.
“Oh?” Kennedy scoffed and scolded Nathan, “Do you have my permission to bring the bed? Nathan, you’re getting more and more indiscreet.”
Nathan was embarrassed, but explained, “Miss Wilson will be living here for a long time. Besides, you have an agreement with Miss Wilson for half a year. You should at least give her a place to sleep. Besides, Miss Wilson works for the company now. It would be problematic if she became ill.”
Kennedy did not speak again.
Charlotte looked down and asked no more questions.
Nathan wiped away the cold sweat in silence.
He was speechless as this bed was clearly …. Forget it!
She had been Kennedy’s maid for many years, it was okay for her to take the blame.
“Thank you.” said Charlotte to Nathan.
Kennedy tugged at his tie in disgust.
Nathan pushed Kennedy into the bathroom to take a shower. Charlotte climbed into the small bed. She no longer had to sleep on the hard floor, and she felt warm-hearted.
In fact, the feeling in the Moore Family wasn’t so bad.
At this thought, Charlotte flashed a smile. Then she got up to change her clothes. As she held one of her garments in her hands, she heard a distinct metallic sound falling to the floor.
Charlotte looked down, doubtful.
A heavy metal button landed on the floor and glinted in the light.
A button?
Clearly, it was not hers.
It was a valuable button in both shape and texture and would never have appeared on her dress.
But why had it fallen off her clothes?
Charlotte thought for a moment, picked up the button with the palm of her hand and looked at it.
After a while, some familiar images came to her mind.
It was a stormy night over a month ago. The man pressed her down on the car seat. She struggled and screamed, but to no avail. The moment she was raped, she grabbed the man’s clothes, accidentally caught his button and pulled it down when she felt pain.
But when did that button fall into her pocket? Why didn’t she remember anything?
Looking at the golden button, she seemed to think of something.
Would it be easier to find the man with this button?
Charlotte took out her phone and sent a message to Diana.
Diana called her back within seconds.
“What, any progress?”
