Chapter 353:
Alice wanted to tease Yanis about his sheepish expression. At that moment, her phone rang.
At first, they gave each other an air of confusion. After a moment, Yanis suddenly said, “We have to meet with a client today. I assume that client is calling you.”
At this thought, Yanis’ expression changed. He then turned around to run upstairs immediately.
Alice checked the time and discovered that it was still an hour before they were to meet with the client.
It was said that the actress would be coming to S-Town today. It would take about 20 minutes for them to arrive.
‘They still had enough time’ Alice said inwardly.
Five minutes later, Yanis dressed up and came down from upstairs. He handed his phone to Alice and ran to the shoe closet to put them on.
“Help me call a cab. We don’t have much time.” Alice took her phone to help her call a cab.
She said, “Got it.”
Yanis pulled out his phone and ran out. He said, “It’s all your fault. You didn’t remind me last night when you knew I had a date today. And I got drunk.” He closed the door.
Then Yanis continued with a depressed expression, “I lost my image in front of Zain and now I’m going to be late.”
After leaving, Alice went upstairs to wake Jack.
He was still asleep when she entered the room. She was carrying a large pillow in her hands, which looked very funny.
“Jack, it’s time to get up.” Alice sat on the edge of the bed as she called his name.
“Well…” Jack answered her, but didn’t move. He was still sleeping soundly.
Alice said, “It’s almost noon. You should get up.” Then Jack gave her a look with his sleepy eyes.
She was stunned for a while.
His eyes were very much like Kennedy’s.
From the time Jack was born, she had watched him grow up. When he was very young, Alice felt that his facial features were similar to Kennedy. At the time, she laughed at herself for thinking this.
She still remembered Kennedy in her heart, so she thought of Kennedy when she saw Jack.
But Yanis also mentioned the similarities between them, Alice felt frightened by his words.
She thought Kennedy and Manfred were brothers so Jack looked like Kennedy.
If not, how could they be so alike?
The boy grew up and now looked like Kennedy.
However, Jack was younger than Kennedy.
Alice didn’t want to think about it. It was useless.
She just wanted to raise Jack and give him a happy life.
“Do you still want to sleep?” Alice didn’t get angry and asked him gently.
Jack found out that she was his mother. Then he reached up and rubbed his eyes, sat up and said, “Well, Mommy, I seem to have overslept today.”
“You know you overslept, what did you do last night?”
Jack was confused and said, “Mommy, I couldn’t sleep last night. Zain read me a long bedtime story.”
Alice thought of Zain after hearing his words. When she talked to Zain last night, he seemed to be in a good mood. She hadn’t expected him to sleep so late.
He was good at hiding his emotions.
He didn’t take his body seriously, especially in front of her.
So she patted Jack on the cheek and said, “Okay, get up. Yanis has gone to work. You’ll have breakfast later. Then we’ll go to the nearby supermarket to buy something we need.”
Hearing this, Jack immediately got out of bed and said. “Okay, Mommy. Please wait for me for ten minutes.”
He quickly got up.
Alice went back to her room to change her clothes and put on her makeup.
When she was dressed, she looked at herself in the mirror.
She had become the kind of person who couldn’t go out without makeup.
Of course, time changes things. She had changed a lot over the years.
“Why did you suddenly move to City S instead of staying in City B?”
A man stood in front of a window with his hands behind his back. His slender figure cast a long shadow on the ground. He wore a dark suit, which made him mature and charming. He was in good shape.
He gazed at the whole city with his deep eyes. Then he said, “Why do you like living in a tall building now?”.
A middle-aged woman in a robe came out of the kitchen. She looked like a middle-aged woman with her hair casually pulled back. However, if you looked closely at her eyes, you could see wrinkles around her eyes. She was aged.
The woman put a plate of fruit on the table and took a bite of a grape.
She said, “Why did you suddenly come looking for me? S-town is a wonderful place with fresh air. I like it very much.”
He did not answer and remained motionless.
The woman looked at his back, ate a grape and said, “Maybe you feel too lonely and that’s why you looked for your aunt? But I can’t keep you warm. I live alone too.”
“Really?” he said, “Why do you still live alone now? You are too old.”
“What are you talking about?” the woman said, “Do you think I want to be alone? I have been influenced by your mother. I witnessed that with my own eyes. Besides, I have already examined my body. I am infertile. I chose to live alone. Your mother entrusted you to me. So naturally I will treat you as my son.”
Hearing this, the man turned and frowned.
“You?”
“Yes?” The woman was so angry that she pounded the table.
It was Kennedy’s mother’s younger sister, Annie.
Annie went to tug her ear, but stayed away.
“Anyway, you must take care of me in the future.”
Kennedy looked at her and took the car key. Then she started to drive away.
“What are you going to do? I want you to buy me something at the nearby supermarket.”
