Chapter 315:
“Never mind, Mr. Manfred, how is Miss Wilson? She doesn’t seem well.” Georgia knew what was most important to Manfred.
“She has a high fever and it’s just gone.”
Georgia rolled her eyes and then glanced at Manfred, “Mr. Manfred, don’t worry. I’ll have people take care of the company and I’ll take care of Miss Wilson. Mr. Manfred, you shouldn’t have slept for a night. Get some sleep, or you won’t be able to stand it.”
“Well, thank you.” Manfred thanked Georgia. She had been his secretary for many years, and within minutes, she understood the current situation, and knew what to do that was important to him.
For so many years, Georgia had been trusted, so with her here, Manfred could rest easy.
He finally closed his eyes.
Manfred knew he could finally sleep.
After a while, Georgia heard Manfred’s even breathing. She glanced at Manfred and sighed.
Georgia covered her chest and then said, “Mr. Manfred is very good to Miss Wilson.”
Georgia straightened up and then sat down. Her boss called her in the middle of the night, she figured there might be something important, so she brought document and laptop, so she could take care of work.
Thinking about this, she took out the laptop, put it on her lap and started to take care of the rest of the work.
He would probably have to stay in the office all day. Manfred had been injured and couldn’t go to the company, so she would have to do the work in advance, or she would have to deal with the whole mess.
Georgia worked efficiently. Soon she had the job done and sent it to her department’s personnel mailbox. When she finished, she saw that it wasn’t yet seven o’clock.
She could wait a while.
Georgia glanced at the two people in bed and had no idea when they would wake up.
Finally, Georgia texted the clerk directly and asked him to call her after he read the message. Feeling drowsy, she went to make a cup of instant coffee and drank it quietly in the hospital room.
At ten o’clock in the morning they were still not up.
Charlotte was still in a nightmare, in which those people were constantly attacking her with vicious words. She didn’t know how to refute them, and even if she did, they quickly fought back and defeated her.
“No, don’t!” Charlotte suddenly exclaimed and opened her eyes.
The ceiling was white, like snow.
Georgia drank two cups of instant coffee, but still felt sleepy. When she was almost dozing off bored with her hands resting on the table, a scream suddenly woke her up.
She snapped her eyes open to find that Charlotte was awake.
She rubbed her cheek, then got up and walked over to her.
“Miss Wilson, you’re awake.”
At the sound of the soft female voice, Charlotte froze for a moment. After a while, she glanced at the visitor.
She looked familiar, but her head ached…she seemed to know this person.
“You are…”
Georgia’s countenance changed slightly, “I’m Georgia, Mr. Manfred’s secretary. We met before at the company. Miss Wilson, don’t you remember?”
After his reminder, Charlotte remembered that they had indeed met before at the firm.
She was in such a deep sleep that for a moment she didn’t remember who she was.
Charlotte nodded and said softly, “I remember.”
“It seems my sense of existence is really very low,” Georgia said, “We’ve met several times and you still don’t remember me.”
Hearing that, Charlotte felt embarrassed. She shifted and tried to sit up.
Georgia hurried to help her sit up and put a pillow behind her back. Without asking her, she turned around and poured her a glass of warm water.
When he returned with the warm water, Charlotte was looking at Manfred, looking very worried.
“Miss Wilson, don’t worry, Mr. Manfred is fine, you don’t need to worry about him.”
“Is he?” Charlotte lowered her eyes, thinking about what happened last night. Kennedy refused to see her and then it rained. Then she fell in the rain and was taken away by Manfred.
The thought of him being so badly hurt, but still following her all the way, made Charlotte feel guilty.
“Yes, Miss Wilson, have some warm water.”
Georgia held out a glass of water. Charlotte took it and drank a few sips. Then she couldn’t drink any more.
“What did the doctor say? He got caught in the rain with me yesterday.”
Hearing that, Georgia was stunned. When she arrived, everything had been fixed, so she had no idea what had happened before. She had no one to ask. Now, hearing Charlotte’s question, she raised her eyebrows, “Mr. Manfred was still awake when I arrived. It was he who called me and asked me to come and take care of you. Then he fell asleep.”
“……” Charlotte couldn’t say a word.
Georgia thought for a moment and continued, “It was early in the morning when I arrived. Do you remember when you arrived at the hospital?”
Charlotte didn’t answer. Although she didn’t know exactly when she had arrived at the hospital, she could probably guess that after arriving at the hospital, Manfred had been watching her, until Georgia’s appearance.
Charlotte didn’t know what to say. If he was mean, she could reject him completely, even if he was nice to her, she could also reject him mercilessly.
But why was he so good to her?
She felt so guilty that he had done so much for her.
She had no way to respond to these feelings.
But why didn’t Manfred understand?
“Miss Wilson, I have worked as Mr. Manfred’s secretary for many years. He’s gentle, but once he likes something, he doesn’t give up easily. You don’t have to feel self-deprecating, after all Mr. Manfred is willing to do that.”
