Charlotte had a hard time calming down because of those words. She looked at Yanis for a long time and then looked down.
“You’re right, but I have to go. If you want to stay, stay and wait for him.” With that, she turned to leave.
Seeing her back turned, Yanis shouted angrily, “Charlotte, aren’t we good friends, why are you getting angry?”
Charlotte froze and then closed her eyes wearily.
Good friends? She wanted to be his good friend, but she wanted nothing to do with Manfred.
At this thought, Charlotte did not answer him, but took a step forward. Yanis thought she would look back, but she did not. Yanis became angry and chased after her.
Then a familiar figure appeared and stopped in front of Charlotte.
Charlotte did not expect to meet Manfred. She was stunned and then walked past him as if she hadn’t seen him.
Manfred was surprised to see that her eyes were red. But she pretended not to see him, and Manfred felt hurt by that.
Then he turned and ran after her.
“Charlotte!”
Manfred moved quickly and grabbed her arm. Charlotte’s expression changed and she pulled her hand away.
“Let me go!”
She shook him violently. Manfred frowned, “Don’t you want to see me, even if I’m here to help you? Charlotte, how much do you hate me, you don’t even want to see me, and you won’t accept my help?”
Charlotte bit her lower lip and looked at him, “Manfred, you have helped me many times, so I owe you a lot and I don’t want to owe you anymore.”
Hearing that, Manfred gave a bitter smile, “So you know you owe me quite a bit. Since you owe me so much, what does it matter if I help you this time?”
Charlotte, “…”
Yanis looked at them standing in the distance. Although he couldn’t hear what they were saying, he was reassured. Hearing that Charlotte was refusing to see Manfred, Yanis became anxious, because it was discouraging.
“I owe you and I’ll pay you back.” Charlotte remembered that three hundred thousand. Her mother angered and disappointed her, but she was her mother and she had to carry that debt.
“Since you owe me and you have to pay me back, what does it matter if I help you any more?”
With that, Manfred broke in, “Come on.”
Charlotte didn’t move. Seeing that, Manfred reached out to catch her and pulled her.
“Manfred, let go, let me go.”
At the sound of her name, Manfred cheered.
She disappeared from the Moore Family and he could not see her in the family or even in the company. He could not approach her directly. At last he could see her today, so he drove quickly here and saw her standing in front of him.
But at the thought that she had been with Kennedy, he felt pain in his heart. Manfred pursed his lips and pulled her back to her original position. Yanis was stunned.
Charlotte’s face was grim.
She wanted to leave, but, thinking that she owed him a lot, she could not leave.
So he sat down and said indifferently.
“I don’t have anything that needs your help.” Even though she couldn’t leave, she didn’t need Manfred to help her.
Yanis’ face changed. He looked at Manfred, “Mr. Manfred, I’m glad you’re here.
We need your help.”
“What is it?”
He said, ignoring Charlotte.
Charlotte was angry, gritting her teeth.
Yanis was about to speak, but Charlotte interrupted her, “I said it has nothing to do with you.
I don’t need your help.”
Manfred looked at her expressionlessly and said bitterly, “What if others offered you help, would you accept that?”
Though it pained Manfred, Charlotte nodded.
“Yes, I said I owe you a lot, I can’t repay you if you help me more. So please give it up.”
Yanis said gritting his teeth: “No, if Mr. Manfred leaves it, we can’t do it.”
Charlotte, “… Yanis, do you have to go against me?”
Yanis glared at her, “I’m sorry, even if you get angry, I insist.”
Charlotte looked at her and couldn’t say anything. She scoffed, “Well, since you want to do that, stay and tell him. I have to go.” With that, Charlotte turned to leave.
Manfred didn’t stop her again. Yanis was anxious and was going to run after her, but was stopped by Manfred.
“Don’t do that, since she wanted to leave, it won’t do any good to run after her.”
Hearing that, Yanis became anxious, “But…”
“You know what happened, don’t you? I can fix it without her.”
Yanis froze and bit her lips, “Can you help?”
Manfred looked at her calmly, “Sure, tell me what happened.”
Yanis knew she couldn’t tell him everything, so she made up an excuse.
“You mean Miss Nelson fell in love with your friend and she was pregnant, but the man left her, so she wanted to commit suicide?”
Yanis nodded. He was clumsy. He wasn’t good at making up a story and he didn’t know if it would work, but it was the best he could come up with.
“Are you telling the truth?” asked Manfred.
Yanis bit his lower lips, “Yes, why would I lie? I just want to know if she’s really pregnant, but at the hospital we can’t do anything….. I want to ask you for help, my friend is worried about her.”
A moment later, Manfred nodded and said coolly, “Okay, I’ll help her.”
