Chapter 261:
Zain was inscrutable, ordinary people could not guess his ideas.
Even Megan couldn’t understand his mind after being with him for so long, let alone Charlotte, who had just come into contact with him.
They just thought differently.
Charlotte could not think deeply, she only felt with her heart. Zain to her was like an older brother.
She felt strange, after all… no man had ever made her feel that way.
She thought to herself that it was probably because he was Diana’s older brother.
Thinking about this, Charlotte felt at ease, then softly answered Zain’s questions.
“My parents and a sister.”
A sister? Zain pursed his lips, “Have you lived with them since childhood?”
Hearing this, Charlotte was stunned, then nodded, “Of course.”
Zain looked thoughtful. Megan said this after doing some research. She had lived with her parents since childhood, even when she was taken away by the traffickers.
But ……What went wrong?
If she really was the daughter of the Wilson Family, how could she have that temperament? Why did they look so much alike when they were quiet?
Could it be that there were two people who looked so much alike, even though they were not related by blood?
Zain was silent, his gaze and eyes collected, obviously thinking about something important.
The car calmed down. Charlotte, who was wearing that suit, did not speak.
All the way they passed over many neon lights, many tall buildings, and Charlotte came to her senses again, the car had stopped not far from the Moore Family.
“Miss Wilson, I can only drop you off here to avoid rumors.” Megan turned to her and smiled.
Charlotte looked out the window and saw a familiar intersection. She looked at Megan gratefully. Before getting out of the car, she took off her jacket and handed it back to Zain, “Mr. Nelson, thank you. I have to go, I’ll buy you dinner someday.”
Hearing that, Zain nodded and said, “I’m free in two days.”
Charlotte froze. After a moment, she smiled, “Okay, I’ll get back to you in a few days.”
After Charlotte left, Megan couldn’t help but say, “Mr. Nelson, aren’t you being a little too direct?”
Hearing that, Zain raised his eyebrows and shot Megan a look, “I’m not.”
Megan flashed an uncomfortable smile and shook her head, “No. You have your own thoughts. But, Mr. Nelson, there is one thing I don’t understand.”
After saying that, Megan let the driver turn around.
Zain’s calm eyes still rested on that slender distant figure. “Do you have any questions about my attitude towards her?” Megan nodded.
“Yes, I’ve worked with you for many years, and this is the first time I’ve seen you treat a woman like this, but your eyes confused me.”
“There’s no need to be confused.” Zain said, “It has nothing to do with you.”
Now that he had said it, it wouldn’t do for Megan to ask any more questions.
Thinking about this, he smiled faintly and nodded, “Yes, you’re right.”
Zain’s black eyes darkened. After a moment, he seemed to think of something and posed a request, “Check everything about the Wilson Family.”
Hearing this, Megan was surprised. “You want information about the Wilson Family?”
“Do your research first and tell me everything you find. Don’t miss a detail.”
“…Yes, I know!” Although Megan was shocked in her heart, she didn’t refuse Zain’s order, and couldn’t question, so she could only nod.
When the driver turned around, Megan looked out the window at the slender figure walking alone along the road in the distance. Her long hair swayed in the cool wind and her slender body swayed. She looked like she was going to be blown straight into the wind in the next second.
Charlotte was walking home alone.
There were almost no residents on the road leading to the house, because the nearby area belonged to the Moore Family and had been transformed into a green space. With streetlights along the road, the warm light fell on Charlotte. She walked slowly with each step.
The road ahead was long. Suddenly, Charlotte stopped walking, looked ahead and felt confused.
This wasn’t her way home, was it?
But she didn’t know where her way home was.
Behind came the sound of a car, Charlotte didn’t turn around, finally the car stopped next to her, and then the familiar voice was heard, “Why are you standing here?”
At this sound, Charlotte’s shoulders shook, and then she moved forward without looking back.
It was Kennedy’s voice, and she had heard it well.
Why was he standing here?
“Stop!” Kennedy scolded, but Charlotte kept moving forward.
“Shall I get off to walk with you?”
Charlotte stopped now and turned to look at him.
He was looking at her coldly.
“Get in.”
Charlotte remained in situ for a moment, but did not get into the car.
Kennedy’s eyes were as fierce as a beast. He sat in the car staring at her.
They were deadlocked for a moment, but Kennedy finally said, “Open the door.”
At her command, Nathan, who was in front, opened the door for her and asked, “Do you want to get out? But……”
“It’s not far from home, you go back first.”
Kennedy pushed the wheelchair out of the car alone, then ordered in a cold voice.
Nathan nodded.
As the car pulled away, there was another person in the lonely, cold streetlight.
Kennedy sat in the wheelchair, close to her.
“If you want to walk, I can walk with you.” He said in a cold voice. At first Kennedy wanted to force her into the car, but she had thought about Nathan’s words in the afternoon.
Maybe this was his chance to change.
For this woman’s sake, she changed again and again.
Charlotte looked at Kennedy sitting in the wheelchair. Although his eyes were cold, his words stunned her. Then he said, “No need, I can walk by myself.” With that, Charlotte turned and walked away.
Kennedy was unpleasant and said in a cold voice, “Come push me.”
“What for?”
Kennedy sneered, “Because I got out of the car for you! Stupid woman.”
Stupid woman?
It was the first time Kennedy had ever scolded her like that. Charlotte got angry and blushed.
Charlotte got angry gnashing her teeth, “You have hands, push yourself!”
