Chapter 222:
“No, I can’t. I promised Charlotte I couldn’t tell.”
Diana wanted to pull her hand back forcefully with teary eyes.
“You promised Charlotte?” Kennedy narrowed her eyes and said in a cold voice, “What are you hiding from me?”
Diana feigned a slip and widened her eyes, “Nothing, I didn’t say anything. Mr. Kennedy, Charlotte should be about to go upstairs. Let me go, and consider that nothing has happened.”
“Nothing has happened?” Kennedy curved his lips and flashed a bloodthirsty smile. He increased his strength, “You think you can fool me, how dare you play in front of me with your clumsy acting ability?”
Diana looked at Kennedy in surprise, “Clumsy, clumsy acting?”
Kennedy scoffed, “You better tell me the truth, I’ll only give you one chance.”
Diana knew she could no longer pretend. She could only slowly lower her gaze, look down at the floor and calm herself before saying, “I don’t want to say it because I have my reasons. Charlotte and I are good friends. I’ve known that for a long time, but I decided to keep quiet because I didn’t want to hurt her. Mr. Kennedy, Charlotte is a humble person. I don’t want her to be hurt again, so can you consider that nothing happened?”
“Answer, who was the woman that night?” That was all Kennedy wanted to know.
He had had Nathan investigated for a long time, but the news was all fake. Now Diana was suddenly mentioning it, it was a coincidence.
Hearing that, Diana bit her lower lip firmly and refused to speak again.
“Say it!”
Diana panicked, her tears falling. And then she cried, “I’m sorry, Mr. Kennedy, I’m so sorry, I really can’t say it. I can’t betray Charlotte. Forget it, Mr. Kennedy.”
As they spoke, footsteps were heard outside. Charlotte asked, “Diana, are you here?”
Hearing that, Diana instantly changed her expression. As she went to push Kennedy, Kennedy had let go of her hand, then turned the wheelchair away from her.
His behavior was subliminal. Diana just wanted to pretend nothing was wrong and didn’t expect Kennedy to react any faster. Her face instantly turned pale.
Kennedy obviously cared about Charlotte.
How was that possible?
Not to mention her looks, Charlotte was a woman by her second marriage pregnant with someone else’s child. Would Kennedy like her?
But if he liked Charlotte, why did he have a bad attitude towards her?
Diana didn’t understand, but she didn’t have time to think about it now. Charlotte’s voice was heard again, “Diana?”
Diana snapped out of it, “Charlotte, I’m here.”
She quickly wiped the tears from her face and approached her with a smile.
In fact, Charlotte had been calming herself in the garden for a long time. Finally, she realized that she still didn’t have the courage, so she decided to go back to Diana and pretend she didn’t know anything.
When she pushed open the door, Charlotte saw Diana, and Kennedy had come to the window. All the furniture in the room was as usual, as if nothing had happened.
“I thought you weren’t here.”
“I just came in. I thought you’d be here. Have you finished the dishes?”
“Yes.”
Diana looked at her and saw that there was nothing unusual about her, so she was relieved.
She didn’t want Charlotte to know so soon, in case there was an accident.
Kennedy, by the window, glanced at Charlotte out of the corner of her eye and checked that she had no other reaction. She couldn’t help but frown.
Was this woman a pig? Her best friend was in a room with her husband, had she no doubt?
She had little sense of crisis and was as stupid as a pig.
Kennedy thought of the heart with disdain.
“It’s getting late, I have to go, and I’ll see you on another day.” Diana wanted to stop here. She had reached her goal in front of Kennedy, the next thing was to wait.
Charlotte thought for a while before nodding, “Okay, I’ll get you off.”
Then she dismissed Diana and returned to her room in about ten minutes. She didn’t go to see Kennedy, because her brain was still in disarray now. She had been thinking about the picture held by Diana’s doll.
Did Kennedy like Diana?
If she did, would she agree to Diana marrying Manfred?
Thinking about this, Charlotte’s hand tensed unconsciously, then loosened.
Well, if she did, there was nothing she could do about it. After all, feelings could not be controlled.
Just as she liked Kennedy, though she knew it was impossible for Kennedy to like her. It was completely out of her control.
There was the sound of wheels rolling. Charlotte looked up to find that Kennedy had suddenly arrived in front of her.
When they met, Charlotte found his inky eyes as vast as the deep sea. Her lips moved but she said nothing.
“Charlotte!” Kennedy called out to her.
“Why don’t you ask me?” said Kennedy directly.
Charlotte, “?”
Kennedy was annoyed to see her confused expression. This woman was abnormal lately. Before, when Diana approached him, she would be anxious and ask him not to do anything to her.
But now she was eerily quiet.
“Damn it.” Kennedy cursed and said impatiently, “Don’t you have any words to say to me?”
Charlotte froze and then realized what he meant. “No,” she said thoughtfully, lowering her eyes and looking down at her fingers.
Since she had made her decision, she had already decided that she would say no more. Whatever Kennedy did had nothing to do with her.
As long as it was consensual.
Seeing that it didn’t matter to her at all, Kennedy became more agitated and looked at her sharply, “No?”
Charlotte shook her head and said firmly, “No.”
She raised her head and looked at him innocently with her cold eyes. “Is there something I should tell you? Or, do you want to hear something from me?”
Kennedy, “…”
She took a deep breath and curved her lips. Finally he grimaced.
“Good!”
This woman was really good at pissing him off!
