Chapter 156:
Manfred looked at Charlotte, with a soft, encouraging smile. He couldn’t help it in his heart to praise her silently.
The girl seemed less helpless than he had imagined.
She said in due course, “Arthur, you said she was incompetent, but you didn’t even give her a chance to explain herself. What if I were as reckless as you and questioned your ability?”
Arthur’s body began to tremble-what was he to do, since Mr. Manfred had said so?
He looked at Kennedy.
Kennedy looked coldly at Charlotte. She was still there quietly printing materials, step by step.
Kennedy looked unconsciously at Manfred. When he found that Manfred was looking at that woman with a smile, he became angry and sneered, “You used a trick on your first day of demotion. You had time to explain yourself, but you didn’t. Didn’t the printing materials take time? Five minutes were lost because of you.”
“Kennedy, this was an accident, you…”
Kennedy interrupted him before he could finish his words.
“Take away his first quarter premiums.”
Kennedy’s eyes were cold and merciless, they rested on Charlotte and Arthur.
“The Moore Group doesn’t need people using tricks in front of me. If it happens again, kick them out of the Moore Group.”
Before Kennedy’s cold, stern eyes, Arthur’s waist couldn’t straighten, plus his powerful words, made him break out in a cold sweat.
She had always maintained this attitude since she had married him. Now she was almost used to it, so that, in comparison with Arthur’s pale face, she seemed much calmer.
As they talked, she had printed out the materials, then put them in a folder and handed them out one by one.
“What I’m giving you are the project materials I’ve ordered, please take a look at them.”
Although Charlotte didn’t understand why the most ordinary employee position could have access to such important materials, she had no right to ask!
Perhaps, this was a trap deliberately set by Kennedy to embarrass her!
The meeting went smoothly, except for a few minutes at the beginning, when she was interrupted. Charlotte seemed to be used to doing what she had done before. She prepared coffee for everyone after finishing the materials.
When the meeting was over and everyone dispersed, Charlotte was in no hurry to leave.
Arthur lowered his voice and said, “Come out with me!”.
Charlotte said nothing, but looked at the man in the wheelchair.
Even though she had been demoted, she still wanted to explain to him that what she had said that day had not been intentional.
“Newcomer, did you hear me?” Arthur’s menacing voice was heard behind her ears. Charlotte realized he was very close to her and took a few steps away in disgust. “Supervisor, you go first, I still have something to do.”
Arthur said, “What do you want, to stay and rat me out?”
“I won’t do anything that bad,” Charlotte said. “I’m only staying here for my personal reasons.”
Personal reasons? Arthur ground his teeth: “No private business is allowed on work time. You’re my department person now, you have to obey me.”
With that, he tugged Charlotte’s hand. As soon as he grabbed her arm, he discovered that the skin on her arm was as delicate as that of a baby. He froze for a moment, then looked at her involuntarily.
“Let go of me!” Charlotte let go of his hand forcefully.
Arthur was surprised at her fair skin, then coughed, “Okay, I’ll wait for you outside. Hurry up.” Then Arthur left.
Charlotte approached Kennedy as everyone left.
“Well…… what happened yesterday…” Charlotte whispered.
Kennedy’s phone rang at that moment. With a blank look on her face, she picked it up, “What’s up?”
Charlotte had to stop talking.
Then she nodded and said to Nathan after hanging up the phone, “Let’s go.”
Nathan gave Charlotte an uncomfortable look, gave her a wink and then nudged Kennedy to leave.
All the while, he didn’t look at her.
Charlotte, who was talking to him, was like a clown.
She was totally ignored.
He stayed in situ, squeezed her hand silently, then loosened it, then squeezed it, then loosened it…. then squeezed it.
“Charlotte.”
A soft voice was heard behind her back. Charlotte looked back and saw Manfred.
Hadn’t he left yet?
She had been paying attention to Kennedy, so she didn’t notice Manfred.
Manfred saw the surprise in her eyes. He had probably known what she was thinking, he couldn’t help but flash a wry smile, “In your eyes, I have no sense of existence?”
“Sorry, Manfred, I have something to do, I have to go!” with that, Charlotte gathered her things and left the office.
As she walked out, she could feel Manfred’s eyes following her the whole time. She was so conflicted in her heart that she could only put aside her cluttered thoughts and not think about it.
After returning to the apartment, she saw Mandy and Ivy’s plaintive eyes as soon as she walked through the door.
There was no apparent gloating when she had left, and they looked disappointed that their purpose had not been fulfilled.
Charlotte made her way quietly to her seat. When she prepared to sit down she only discovered that her seat was splashed with water, and she hardly noticed.
“That’s the woman who got into the president’s bed. She’s calculating. She went to the bathroom and pretended to give us a break, but saved it all on a usb.”
“Yes! If people didn’t know the truth, they’d think she was pure!”
“She did it on purpose! didn’t she?”
Charlotte took out the handkerchief, wiped herself, sat down and then said slowly, “I inserted the usb drive into the computer. They were blind and didn’t notice. They failed, and now they’re blaming me?”.
“You!” Hearing that, Ivy’s expression changed greatly and she wanted to punch her.
Mandy quickly reached out her hand to stop her, “Ivy, don’t be impulsive. Jessica hit her last time and it came to a bad end – we’d better not get involved!
Ivy held back her tempers and said coldly, “We’ll see, as long as you’re still in this department, I won’t let you have a good day!”
Charlotte hooked her lip, “Ok, wait and see.”
“Humph.”
They shook their heads and left.
At lunch, Yanis came straight to the apartment to see her. Charlotte was surprised,
“Didn’t you ask me to stay away from you? Why…”
Yanis blinked, “I said it casually and did you really think I meant it? Aren’t we friends? How could I really let you stay away from me? Come on, go to dinner.”
Yanis went straight ahead to grab her arm, pulling her towards the cafeteria, not caring about the looks on everyone else’s faces.
Charlotte was stunned. At this moment, her heart was tender.
