Chapter 147:
As he spoke to her, Kennedy roughly pulled her nightgown off.
“Ah!” Charlotte cried out in alarm, her little body trembling with fear in his arms. She thought about what had happened in the morning and that somewhere she was still sore, as Kennedy’s hands began to move on her body again.
If she did it again like she had in the morning….
“No, don’t!” Charlotte grabbed at her wriggling hands and all but screamed, “Don’t do this to me!”
If she suffered another blow like the one in the morning, Charlotte could not guarantee that her baby would survive!
Her overreaction made Kennedy startled, and he aggravated the force on her, looking at her coldly, “What, you’re remorseful and you don’t dare let me check?”
Charlotte sobbed, “Kennedy, I went to the hospital in the morning!”
Hearing that, Kennedy frowned.
“I can’t do that with you, or…. the baby will die.”
In the end, Charlotte said these words, hoping Kennedy would let her go.
Hearing the word ‘baby,’ Kennedy suddenly became angry and her strength grew heavier. She said gnashing her teeth: “How dare you mention the baby to me? He’s just a bastard and I’m thinking of letting you have an abortion, do you think I’m going to keep him?”.
Charlotte’s nightgown was ripped off.
Charlotte’s eyes showed desperation. She tugged at Kennedy’s sleeve, “Don’t do it, you promised me I’d keep the child.”
Tears had formed in the back of her eyes. She looked at Kennedy. His eyes were like a cool lake, but they were wet and red.
Kennedy was stunned and his heart softened inexplicably.
Suddenly, he raised his lips. “Okay, beg.” Charlotte said nothing.
Kennedy seduced her, “Beg me, I’ll let you and that bastard go.” Charlotte stared at him, tears in her eyes.
“You’ll let me go as long as I beg?”
She didn’t think so. Because Kennedy was temperamental, she feared he would suddenly go back on his word.
But if she didn’t beg him, she wouldn’t stand a chance. The doctor had made it very clear to her. If she did it again, the baby was going to die.
“Try begging.”
As expected, it wasn’t the same as before.
Charlotte’s face in the lamplight paled. She gripped Kennedy’s hand tightly, then said softly, “Okay, I beg…… leave me alone this time, leave me and the baby alone, please.”
Kennedy’s pupils suddenly contracted.
Actually, she was begging him!
Because she wanted to keep the bastard, she begged him. She didn’t complain even when he asked her to tidy up all the material in the morning and she didn’t resist when he humiliated her in front of the crowd in the conference room. And now she was begging him for that bastard.
He sneered, “Charlotte, should I say you’re an idiot or say you have deep feelings? You still want to keep that man’s son after you get divorced, do you want to go back to him someday?”
As she reached the last sentence, Kennedy’s tone suddenly became suddenly sharp and aggressive.
He mentioned Aldrich again.
Charlotte wanted to scream at him that the baby she was carrying had nothing to do with Aldrich.
But she thought about what Diana had said.
The suit was Manfred’s.
Kennedy’s brother.
Was the baby in her belly Manfred’s?
Charlotte looked down to think. Kennedy thought she was right, so she didn’t answer him, which made him angrier.
“You can do that for a man like that…”
Kennedy suddenly let go of her and said coldly with contempt, “Your face disgusts me, go away.”
Although his words were stinging, Charlotte was relieved.
After all, he had forgiven her and the baby in her womb was safe for a while.
So Charlotte took a step back, gripped the corner of the table, and then made her way back to her place with firm steps.
Kennedy behind had been watching her back like an eagle and moved away after a long while.
Charlotte hid under the covers, her body and lips still trembling.
It took her a while to calm down, and then she discovered that her hands and feet were cold.
Fortunately, she survived the night.
Charlotte closed her eyes, hoping she could fall asleep, but her head was a mess. She kept thinking about Diana’s words and Manfred’s face.
As well as the man’s heavy breathing on that rainy night.
Suddenly Charlotte woke up from sleep and opened her eyes. It was bright.
She glanced at her phone and realized that it was already daylight.
The night had already passed.
Charlotte lifted the quilt. Kennedy was still asleep. She quickly finished packing and slipped downstairs. She couldn’t go to sleep anyway, it was better to go to the company first.
But Charlotte didn’t think she would unexpectedly run into Manfred.
“Why so early, Charlotte?”
Manfred greeted her politely when he saw her.
Charlotte now had different emotions and feelings towards him.
In the past, when she came across Manfred, she didn’t dare to approach him lest he would suffer anything.
But now, seeing Manfred, Charlotte had thought about what Diana had told her. She looked at the man with a smile, but she couldn’t believe it was that man.
How could it be the same person?
Had Diana’s brother made a mistake?
Or had she misheard him?
“Charlotte?” Seeing his face felt wrong and she stood in situ looking at him in a daze,
Manfred said, “What’s the matter, why are you so distracted?”
Hearing that, Charlotte came to her senses and lowered her head to recompose her mood.
“Sorry, Manfred, I didn’t sleep well last night, so my brain is a little fuzzy.”
Manfred nodded, “No wonder your face isn’t right and you have dark circles under your eyes.” Charlotte smiled awkwardly.
“Have you had breakfast, then?” Manfred glanced inside and smiled slightly. “You’re up early, the maid must not have breakfast ready.”
Charlotte shook her head. “No, I’m not hungry.”
“I’ll take you there.”
Charlotte, “……”
“Come on, it’s near our office. The breakfast there is delicious.”
Charlotte wanted to refuse, but after thinking about her own business, she decided to go with him.
After all, Diana had said so, she had to see if it was the truth.
“All right.”
Charlotte nodded and completely forgot Kennedy’s words.
