“Okay, I’ll make myself happy. I won’t cry…” Betty said with a smile, though tears streamed down her face.
Seeing the mother and daughter, Lauren Meyer was visibly moved, tears filling her own eyes. Bella’s eyes were also red as she watched the emotional scene.
At that moment, Lauren Meyer sat down on the sofa in the living room with Bella, letting Betty and Anne continue their conversation.
“Bella, why did you bring Anne back?” Lauren Meyer asked.
“It was Hank who took the initiative to call me,” Bella replied, offering a gentle smile.

Bella continued, “Betty, Hank called me first this time. He’s a good person. Don’t blame him.”
Betty paused, then burst into tears while laughing softly.
“I know, he’s a good person. He just doesn’t love me.”
“Sister, don’t worry. I won’t pester him anymore. For Anne’s sake, I will start a new life.”
Seeing the renewed hope in Betty’s eyes, Bella felt a wave of relief.
“Well, it’s great that you think so,” Bella said with a smile.
Then, Bella added, “Betty, Hank agreed to let Anne come back. Anne’s grandparents said that Anne should return to them after the school holiday. You have to understand.”
Betty hesitated for a moment, then spoke quietly, “I understand. I’m happy to see that Anne has been well cared for and educated by her grandparents. But, sister, can you talk to Hank and Anne’s grandparents about letting Anne stay with us during the winter and summer holidays?”
“You are Anne’s mother. As long as Anne is well taken care of, they will definitely agree,” Bella nodded.
“Yes,” Betty said, nodding with tears in her eyes.
Bella, being a mother herself, could understand Betty’s emotions in that moment.
Betty reached out and took Bella’s hand, saying gratefully and guiltily, “Sister, I’m so lucky to have a sister like you!”
“Me too,” Bella replied with a smile.
Bella and Betty had finally reconciled, a moment neither of them had thought would come again.
