Chapter 959:
In truth, I already had someone in my heart, but that person had never truly noticed me.
Everyone looked at me with envious eyes. I raised my head and met Connor’s gaze. He was standing next to me.
“Congratulations,” Connor said, slipping one hand into his pocket.
“Thank you.” I smiled and thanked him for his well-wishes.
The tension from earlier seemed to disappear as if it had never existed. In reality, I had a good impression of Connor. However, his eyes always seemed to hold some disdain for me, which was why I didn’t want to show weakness.
“Maybe you’ll find a boyfriend soon.” Connor suddenly laughed.
I couldn’t help but frown. I could clearly see the sarcasm in his eyes.
I couldn’t help but respond, “Are you worrying too much? What does it matter to you if I never get married?”
“What kind of joke is this? Why would I worry about you?” Connor sneered.
“It’s best if you don’t,” I shot back, glancing at him. I then turned around and walked away, clutching the bouquet in my arms.
I sat alone in a corner, the bouquet still in my arms. My eyes felt a little sore.
Connor’s words had really hurt, but I couldn’t control my feelings.
Love was like this—there was no reason behind it at all.
Bella’s POV:
The wedding was finally over.
Everything turned out as Herbert had said. Although his mother didn’t seem very happy, she didn’t cause any trouble for me.
Before the wedding had even ended, she had already left.
Herbert told me not to think too much about it. There were some things that couldn’t be changed for now, and there was nothing else we could do.
After all, I would spend the rest of my life with him.
I agreed with his words.
The wedding had gone smoothly. Now, we were finally looking forward to what came next: our honeymoon.
Originally, we had planned to go to New York, but later we felt it might be a bit boring.
As a result, we decided to change our honeymoon destination to China.
Ever since Herbert recommended some Chinese dishes to me, I had become very interested in the country.
That night, I was preparing for our honeymoon trip when Herbert suddenly hugged me from behind.
“Honey, I have something to tell you.”
His expression was so serious that it made me nervous.
“What’s the matter?” I put down the clothes in my hand.
“In fact, it’s not a big deal. I have to take Connor with me on this trip. There’s some very important work I need to take care of, and he has to come with me to China. On one hand, it’s convenient for handling work, and on the other, he needs to inspect some Chinese partners.”
