Chapter 852:
As he spoke, he held my hand tightly.
I looked down and saw that his large hand completely covered mine. I couldn’t help but smile.
“I’m the boss now, okay? The employees are all gone. Joey and I had to check if the lights, the water dispenser, and the computer were still on, and then we had to lock the door,” I replied.
A smile tugged at the corner of Herbert’s lips.
“Now you know that it’s not easy being a boss? Why don’t you just be my wife?” he teased.
“I don’t want to!” I raised my chin, my attitude firm, but there was a smile on my lips.
At that moment, I suddenly glanced behind me and saw that no one was around. I asked, “Why did you drive here by yourself today? Where’s Connor?”
“I gave him the day off. I personally came to pick you up today, and we’ll go on a date tonight,” Herbert replied.
Hearing this, although I was very happy, I frowned and said, “But I really miss Lucas and Lucky.”
Herbert glanced at me and said in a dissatisfied tone, “I turned down a lot of social activities tonight and drove all the way to pick you up from work. Tonight, you belong to me completely, okay?”
Although I missed the children terribly, seeing his dissatisfaction, I decided to comfort him and nodded in agreement.
Herbert’s face lit up with happiness.
“Then what do you have planned for tonight?” I asked with a smile, my fingers unconsciously curling around his hand.
“Let’s eat first, and then go to a movie. What do you think?” Herbert suggested, sounding like a young man who had just started dating.
Even though he was proposing something simple for our evening, I couldn’t help but feel like I had just tasted a piece of candy. We had never gone on many dates before.“I heard there’s a very famous romance movie recently. Let’s go and watch it after dinner,” Herbert smiled, glancing at me.
“Romance movie? Don’t you hate that kind of movie the most?” I asked, holding my chin and staring at him curiously.
Herbert took my hand. His palm was much larger than mine, completely enveloping my hand, and I felt a comforting warmth.
“I thought someone liked it?” he said.
“I’ll accompany you to watch it today. But next time, you have to accompany me to watch something I like.”
It was clear that I was the one who loved romance movies. I was glad that he was willing to accommodate my preferences.
Smiling, I said, “Okay, I’ll accompany you to watch your favorite movie next time.”
It was important for two people in a relationship to understand and respect each other’s preferences. Since he was willing to respect mine, I would do the same for him.
That evening, Herbert and I had a special candlelight dinner. The table was adorned with flowers, fine wine, and a violinist standing nearby, playing for us. The setting was perfect: the red wine, rose, steak, and dessert created a beautiful scene, while the sound of the violin floated gently throughout the restaurant.
