Bride of Mr. Billion - Chapter 791

Chapter 792:

“You really think I’d describe you this way?” he asked, still incredulous.

Seeing that he was still pretending, I raised my chin, determination in my tone.

“Then tell me, why have you been going to New York so often lately?”

Herbert’s anger immediately seemed to deflate, his silence speaking volumes. I sneered.

“Why won’t you answer me? Am I wrong?”

His hands clasped together, and I could see the internal struggle in his eyes.

“Bella, give me some more time. I’ll give you a reasonable explanation,” he said, his voice softer now.

I nodded, though it was with difficulty.

“Alright, I’ll wait for your explanation. But until you give me one, we should sleep separately.”

After that, I got out of bed, slipped on my shoes, and walked out. I had only taken two steps when someone grabbed my wrist from behind.

“Where are you going?” Herbert frowned, his voice filled with concern.

“I’m going to sleep in the second bedroom,” I replied, shaking off his hand as I turned to leave the master bedroom.

Once in the second bedroom, I locked the door behind me. I didn’t want him to come in without boundaries, afraid that something would happen again that shouldn’t.

Lying there, staring at the ceiling, I couldn’t stop thinking about what he had said.

“He will give me a reasonable explanation after some time.” What did that even mean? What kind of explanation could justify what I had seen? Was he already discussing marriage with that young girl?

Was he planning to come to me later with their “good news”?

The thought made my chest tighten with both anger and sadness. But then, I remembered the two babies peacefully sleeping downstairs. I knew that now wasn’t the time to dwell on my emotions. I had to focus. I needed to work on my accounting firm and make it successful. If everything turned out well, I would be able to secure the right to raise my children in the future.

The next day, I threw myself into my work. Half a month later, my accounting firm finally opened! Joey, Amy, and the other two employees, along with me, made up a small team. On the opening day, I wore a burgundy dress, feeling both smart and cheerful.

Joey came in, looking around the room before walking over to me, muttering, “We’re opening today, and the store across the street is opening too. I swear Emma’s doing this on purpose, trying to make trouble for us!”

I looked outside through the glass door, and sure enough, the opposite store was buzzing with activity. There were people constantly coming and going, and the entrance was filled with flower baskets, creating a lively scene.

“She’s running an insurance company, so of course, she needs the attention,” I said.

“Anyone who walks in might end up buying insurance. We’re running an accounting firm. If people don’t need our services, they won’t come in, no matter how much we invite them.”

Joey frowned.

“But we don’t have a flower basket at our door. It looks so empty. Why don’t I go get some to make things livelier?”
