Chapter 787:
“I’m going to find my… children’s father.”
I wanted to say “husband,” but after a moment’s thought, I changed my mind.
The taxi driver immediately responded, “Miss, your family must be rich. People who go to Swan Island are either wealthy or noble. I heard that even ordinary meals here cost thousands of dollars.”
“You must be joking. He’s just eating with his friend,” I replied with a smile.
Soon, I arrived at Swan Island restaurant.
As soon as I entered, a receptionist approached and asked, “Miss, have you made a reservation?”
“Oh, I… My children’s father is eating inside.”
Although I knew my words sounded a little awkward, I was telling the truth.
“Then, is your husband in the hall, the private room, or the revolving restaurant on the top floor?” the receptionist asked.
I was taken aback by the question.
Swan Island was a huge building. How was I supposed to know which floor Herbert was eating on?
“It’s reserved under Mr. Wharton,” I said, hoping that would help.
The receptionist smiled and said, “Please wait a moment.”
A minute later, she returned with a smile.
“Miss, Mr. Wharton has booked the revolving restaurant on the top floor tonight.”
“Thank you,” I said and made my way straight to the elevator.
The elevator had a promotional poster introducing the revolving restaurant. The oval-shaped building on the top floor was surrounded by transparent glass, looking like a shining pearl from a distance.
The revolving restaurant only had about twenty tables. Of course, it was expensive, and reservations needed to be made at least half a month in advance.
As I looked at the poster in the elevator, I frowned.
“Didn’t Herbert just say that this place was good, so he came here on a whim? But it’s a place that needs to be reserved so far in advance.”
Thinking about it, I started to feel that I might have come to the wrong place. He and his friend must not be eating in the revolving restaurant, but in a private room or in the hall downstairs.
However, at that moment, the elevator reached the top floor. I stepped out and thought, “Maybe it was arranged by Herbert’s friend in advance. I’ll go in and see if he’s here.”
When I got out of the elevator, I noticed a space full of sofas. A few people were sitting there, either reading newspapers or playing with their mobile phones. Judging by their clothing, I assumed they were secretaries or drivers, waiting for their bosses to finish their meals.
At that moment, I suddenly spotted a familiar figure in a black suit, sitting on a single sofa, reading a newspaper. As soon as I saw him, I realized I was in the right place.
“Connor!” I called out happily.
When he heard my voice, Connor quickly looked up. He seemed surprised when he saw me standing in front of him.
