Chapter 783:
“Why do I have to run into Emma again?”
“Let’s go,” I said, pulling Joey as I turned around, ready to leave.
I didn’t want to deal with that woman at all. But as we were about to leave, Emma, who had just walked out of the store, caught sight of us. She was first stunned, then her eyes landed on me, and she saw the keys to the unit in my hand. She immediately laughed and said, “I chose to open a business here. How could I run into a dogshot like you?”
“Who are you calling a dogshot?” Joey questioned, her tone sharp.
“If you keep talking like that, I won’t be polite,” Joey added, pointing at Emma and rebuking her.
At this moment, two tall men in black suits suddenly stepped out from behind Emma. It was obvious that they were bodyguards.
Emma let out a dry laugh.
“You’re Joey, aren’t you? I wasn’t scolding you just now. It’s best if you don’t find fault with me, or I’ll teach you a lesson,” she sneered.
The two men behind Emma looked particularly fierce.
Seeing this, I immediately pulled Joey toward me and said, “Emma, we will focus on our own business. You’d better not provoke me, and keep your mouth shut in the future. Otherwise, I won’t be afraid of the bodyguards behind you. If you really try something, I won’t let it go.”
Emma smiled smugly and said, “Bella, I know you have a big boss protecting you now, so I don’t dare to bully you. But tell me, why hasn’t that big shot married you after all this time?”
“You gave birth to two children for him, didn’t you? Are you living in his house now? You said I was shameless, but in fact, you are the most shameless woman!”
Her words struck right at my heart.
Seeing this, Joey stepped forward angrily and said, “Emma, you really don’t know what’s good for you. Don’t think I won’t do anything just because you brought these two black dogs with you.”
Emma, however, sneered and replied, “These are my bodyguards. As long as you make a move first, they’ll protect me and fight back. Even if it goes to court, you can’t win!”
“You…”
Joey’s face turned pale with anger.
At that moment, Joey didn’t care about being at a disadvantage. She stepped forward, ready to strike Emma, at least to release some of her frustration.
I reached out to grab Joey’s hand, pulling her back.
Joey frowned, and I looked up at Emma with cold eyes.
“Emma, don’t get too cocky. You’ll regret it if you fall from your high pedestal one day.”
Emma, however, trembled with laughter.
“Bella, I’m now the daughter of a rich and powerful family. You’d better worry about yourself. To be blunt, aren’t you just Herbert’s sex partner now? Aside from sleeping in the same bed, do you have any other relationship with him?”
“What did you say?”
The words “sex partner” stabbed me deeply, and my fist clenched in anger.
