Chapter 764:
“I came out to buy something and got bored, so I thought I’d invite you for a cup of coffee.”
Joey laughed.
“Bored? You’re living a happy life now. How can you be bored?”
“I miss you so much. Can’t you talk to me?” I stirred my coffee absentmindedly.
“What’s wrong? Do you have something on your mind?” Joey asked, studying me closely.
“No, I just haven’t felt very energetic lately,” I replied.
Just then, Joey’s sharp eyes caught sight of a box of pills peeking out from my bag. She reached over and grabbed it. Looking down, she frowned.
“Contraception…?”
“Give it back to me.”
I reached out and grabbed the box of pills from Joey’s hand. Opening the package, I put the two rows of pills into my bag.
“Are you on birth control?” Joey asked.
“Yes,” I nodded.
“Are you saying that you don’t want a child, or is it Herbert who doesn’t want one?” Joey asked again.
“I don’t know what he thinks, but I don’t want a child. I don’t want to have a baby anymore,” I replied.
“Bella, have you discussed having children with Herbert? If it’s something you both decided together, then that’s one thing. But I feel like this might be your decision alone.”
“You love children so much. Didn’t you want to have two more kids in the past?”
I felt a little helpless.
“I don’t want to have a child before I’m married.”
Joey frowned, clearly confused.
“Does Herbert not want to marry you?”
I shook my head.
Joey stood up, impatience clear in her voice.
“What’s he doing? Why doesn’t he want to marry you?”
“The most important thing is that you obviously want to get married. He loves you, so why can’t you get married?”Joey was getting more and more agitated, so I tried to calm her down.
“Honey, calm down, okay?” I sighed before continuing, “In fact, he never said he would never marry me.”
“He just said he won’t marry me for the time being. Maybe he has his reasons, but he hasn’t told me what they are.”
Joey’s mood seemed to ease a little.
“You need to ask him what he meant and why he’s doing this. If the two of you aren’t married, it means he could leave you at any time,” Joey said with concern.
