Bride of Mr. Billion - Chapter 725

Chapter 726:

“I don’t think I have that much of an impact,” he said.

I smiled and replied, “Well, Selina has been sentenced to a year in prison. Though Jeremy was acquitted, he’s been fired by Stephen Firm and won’t have a future in the industry.”

The tension with my colleagues had also been resolved, so my work would only get smoother from here. I had made peace with Herbert, and we had two lovely children. Everything was falling into place. How could I not be happy?

Bella’s POV:

“Since you’re in such a good mood, I’ll take you to have a big meal. You should eat more and gain a little fat. It will look better when you wear a wedding dress,” Herbert said, pinching my chin.

Hearing this, I was stunned for a moment, then blushed and replied, “Who wants to wear a wedding dress?”

At that moment, my heart raced with an unusual excitement. What did he mean by that? Was this a proposal?

“Nothing. I was just saying,” Herbert said, raising his eyebrows before he lowered his head to focus on some official business. But I couldn’t help feeling a little disappointed. I had been looking forward to marrying Herbert. Although we already had two children and had been through so much, we hadn’t had a proper wedding yet.

I hoped that he would be the one to bring it up. I had too much pride to be the one to say, “Please marry me. When will we get married?” That would have been so hard for me to say.

Soon, the car pulled up in front of a French restaurant. Through the glass window, I could see that the door to the restaurant was particularly grand, surrounded by top luxury cars.

I couldn’t help but comment, “It’s just lunch. Why does it have to be so grand? I only have an hour and a half for lunch. I can’t afford to be late this afternoon.”

I had been late a few times this week already, and I hated it.

“I’ve already booked the seats and dishes. You won’t be late,” Herbert reassured me, pulling me into the upscale French restaurant.

Sitting by the window upstairs, we had a beautiful view of the neighborhood. The restaurant was designed in the classical French palace style, with polite waiters and even gold-and-silver painted tableware, which gave it an air of nobility.

In the center of the hall, on a raised platform draped with beaded curtains, a curly-haired beauty in a long white dress and golden belt was playing the piano. The soft melody drifted gently throughout the restaurant.

Once Herbert sat down with me, the waiter began to bring the dishes to our table. He wasn’t lying to me; the meal was set out beautifully. I looked around the spacious restaurant. Though it was large, there were only five or six tables occupied.

“Is it very expensive to dine here?” I asked in a low voice after the waiter left.

Hearing this, Herbert grinned, then shook off the white napkin and spread it across his legs.

“Although it’s a little expensive, I like it here,” he said.

“There are only a few people in such a big restaurant. Will it be closing soon?” I asked, glancing around at the empty seats. I felt a bit concerned about the future of the place.
