Chapter 714:
“Who do you think you are to claim I’m your woman?” I started, but before I could finish, he kissed me forcefully. My mouth was sealed shut, and I couldn’t say a word.
As I struggled, he kissed me more passionately, his grip tightening around my hand, not allowing me to object. Desperate, I bit his tongue with my teeth. A taste of blood filled my mouth, but he didn’t stop. In the end, I had to release my hold. Fear gripped me as I looked into his eyes—they were wild, almost predatory.
Bella’s POV:
At that moment, the door to my house suddenly swung open. Joey, still in her pajamas and looking sleepy, poked her head out. I wanted to push past Herbert, but he held me against the wall. Joey crossed her arms in front of her chest and, with a smirk, said, “Even if I don’t sleep, my neighbors need their rest. What’s all this noise at the door? Are you trying to disturb everyone?”
I nudged Herbert and said, “Move out of the way. I’m going home!”
“Your home isn’t here. You’re living here temporarily,” Herbert replied, grabbing my wrist and refusing to let go.
“You—”
“It seems like Bella isn’t engaging in this willingly. Bella, did he harass you? Don’t be scared. If he’s bothering you, I’ll call the police right now and have them deal with him!” Joey said, pulling out her phone and dialing.
Seeing that Joey was serious, I immediately panicked. I certainly didn’t want Herbert to get arrested.
“No, no!” I quickly waved my hands to stop her.
“Not harassment? Then did you do it willingly?” Joey paused, looking up at me, clearly awaiting my answer.
Herbert gave Joey a thumbs-up.
“Joey, I owe you a meal for this.”
Joey raised an eyebrow but was clearly unimpressed.
“It better be a big meal, then,” she teased.
That’s when I realized I’d been played by the two of them. Annoyed, I stamped my foot and said, “Joey, who the hell is your friend?”
“For a big meal, I can sometimes betray my friend,” Joey grinned, glancing at Herbert.
“You were staying in my house temporarily, but now that you have a home, can you move out? I’m exhausted. I have to work tomorrow, so I’m going to bed. You two can continue.”
With that, she retracted her head and slammed the door shut.
“Joey, have you really been bought off by a meal? Open the door!” I knocked, but Joey didn’t respond.
Herbert grinned and then pulled me closer.
“Let’s not disturb her. Let’s go.”
“I’m not going with you,” I said firmly. Though I didn’t want him to be taken by the police, I couldn’t accept his overbearing behavior.
Before I could protest any further, Herbert bent down and effortlessly scooped me up in his arms.
