Chapter 704:
I lifted my gaze to meet his deep, intense eyes.
“Do you dare say you don’t care about me? Do you dare say you’re not jealous?” His hands tightened, and his eyes were so intense they almost scared me. In that moment, I found myself panicking inside, because I couldn’t bring myself to lie.
I shook off his hand and responded, louder than before, “So what if I’m jealous?”
I was jealous. I was losing my mind over it.
“Bella, I didn’t sleep with her,” Herbert said urgently.
“Let’s not waste any more time. If we keep wasting time like this, the children will grow up before we know it.”
Before I could respond, his hand reached out, pulling the bath towel off my chest and tossing it into the air. In the next instant, he leaned over me, pressing me back onto the soft bed.
To be honest, I did want to be closer to him.
“But…”
“Herbert, you haven’t made it clear to me yet!”
I placed my hands on his chest, looking up at him.
“What do you mean?” Herbert asked, his expression puzzled.
“Why did you come back so late after dropping Linda off? What were you doing at her house all that time?” I pressed, my voice filled with uncertainty.
“Linda was drunk and causing a scene in the car. It took a lot of effort to get her home, and once we were there, she grabbed onto me and refused to let go. I had no choice but to calm her down,” Herbert explained seriously.
I wasn’t satisfied with his answer.
“How did you calm her down? Did you do anything intimate?” I asked, my tone becoming more insistent.
Herbert frowned, looking slightly frustrated.
“I’ve been dealing with a stomach ache all day. How could I have been in the mood to do anything like that with her?” He seemed genuinely concerned about the misunderstanding.
But I wasn’t convinced.
“You were both drunk… No, even if you hadn’t drunk much, are you telling me you wouldn’t have crossed the line with her?”
In a rush of emotion, I grabbed the collar of his bathrobe.
“That’s nonsense. You’re overthinking this!” Herbert replied, his voice rising.
“You’ve had such a close relationship with her for so long. And don’t forget, you two spent three days together on Puji Island. I don’t believe that nothing happened between you two!” I said, my jealousy clearly showing.
Since I had already admitted how I felt, I decided to ask all the questions weighing on my mind.
Herbert sighed deeply, taking off his bathrobe and looking at me.
