Chapter 700:
Seeing that he wasn’t coming closer, I felt a slight relief. But then, I remembered that he must have just gotten out of bed with Linda, which explained why he probably had no interest in other beautiful women at the moment.
I glanced at the clock on the wall—it was already past one in the morning. It had taken him so long just to drop someone off. Those few hours were enough for them to do something.
Seeing him lying on my bed, I couldn’t help but feel a little anxious.
“Hey, your bed is next door!”
Herbert covered his abdomen with one hand and grinned.
“This is my home. I can sleep in any bed I want!”
“Get out.”
I stamped my feet angrily. If it weren’t already almost two o’clock in the morning, I would have left immediately.
After that, Herbert remained silent for a long time. I turned to look at him. His brow was furrowed, and his lips were trembling.
I felt something was wrong with him. I took a few steps closer, craning my neck to look at him. There were beads of sweat on his forehead, and he looked like he was in immense pain.
Seeing that he seemed unwell, I didn’t care about anything else. I hurried over and asked, “What’s wrong with you? Are you uncomfortable?”
I looked him up and down, but I couldn’t figure it out.
“What medicine?”
I was stunned. I didn’t know what kind of medicine he was talking about, but it was clear that he was really sick and feeling very uncomfortable. My heart was inexplicably tangled.
“The stomach medicine…” Herbert reluctantly opened his eyes.
Bella’s POV:
“Where is the stomach medicine?”
I knew that Herbert was a strong person, so it seemed his stomach must be in serious pain, or he wouldn’t be looking so haggard.
“It’s in my bedroom… on the bedside table.”
After struggling to finish his sentence, he closed his eyes again.
I quickly ran out, found the stomach medicine in Herbert’s bedroom, poured a glass of water, and hurriedly returned with both the medicine and the water.
“Here’s the medicine. Take it quickly.”
I was so anxious that my forehead was covered in sweat. I hadn’t realized just how much I cared about him until that moment. Seeing him in pain made my own heart ache.
I placed the medicine in Herbert’s mouth and poured the water for him.
“Ahem, ahem…”
Maybe I was too rough. He choked and started coughing violently.
Seeing him choke, I immediately set the cup down and began massaging his back, panic rising in my chest.
