Chapter 656:
Lucky, who was in my arms, gently touched my face and kept calling out to me.
I looked at her big, round eyes staring back at me, and my heart filled with even more regret. I had been too quick-tempered earlier. This wasn’t about Lucky; it was about me losing control.
I touched her soft face and whispered regretfully, “Lucky, I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have yelled at you. I’m sorry.”
As I spoke, tears started to fall from my eyes.
Lucky, with her chubby little hand, wiped the tears from my face.
“Mommy, don’t cry. Don’t cry,” she said softly.
“Lucky.”
Looking at my sweet daughter, I quickly wiped my tears away. I didn’t want her to see me like this. As her mother, I had to be strong. I had to protect my children, no matter what.
That morning, Selina called Jeremy and me into her office.
I sat side by side with Jeremy in front of Selina’s desk, still uncertain about why she had called both of us in.
As I was pondering, Selina placed a document in front of me and Jeremy, smiling as she spoke.
“This is a big case. It’s the budget case for QT Company. QT is very well-known in the industry. Linda has entrusted this case to our group, and we must do our best. I’ll personally monitor the progress. Jeremy will take the lead, and Bella, you’ll assist him. Do you have any objections?”

“No,” Jeremy replied, shaking his head.
“No objections.”
Although I had my doubts, I also shook my head. To be honest, I really didn’t want to work with Jeremy. Despite his good behavior in recent days, it didn’t guarantee he wouldn’t harass me again in the future. However, the company wasn’t mine to run, and there were many things beyond my control.
“You must take this case seriously,” Selina continued.
“I expect a plan within half a month. If you encounter any problems, come to me at any time. Also, I hope you can set aside any past conflicts. After all, you’re here to work, not to create drama. If you succeed with this big case, I’ll ask Linda for a raise for both of you,” she finished.
Jeremy and I nodded in agreement, then left the office.
At the end of the day, as most of our colleagues were heading out, Jeremy suddenly walked over to where I was packing up, preparing to leave.
I glanced up at him, my heart filled with wariness.
I couldn’t shake the feeling that he might still do something to hurt me…
Bella’s POV:
Jeremy scratched the back of his head and said, “Bella, it’s all my fault in the past. Don’t hold it against me. Anyway, I’ve learned my lesson. Let’s work well together in the future.”
He then pointed to his face, where some bruises had yet to heal. Hearing his words, I decided not to press the issue. After all, Herbert had already vented my frustration for me.
