Did I have to deal with these two people to complete my task? How could I possibly work with them? They probably just wanted to see me fail.
“What do you mean?” Klein asked, clearly confused.
“Nothing,” I responded quickly, not wanting to reveal my worries.
Klein pressed on, “Are you in trouble? Speak up. Maybe I can help you.”
“Thank you, but you can’t help me.” I turned to leave, but as I did, Klein grabbed my arm. I lost my balance and stumbled backward, our bodies pressing against each other. I looked at him, startled.
Immediately, he let go and apologized, “I’m sorry, Bella.”
“It’s fine.” I stepped back, brushing off the moment. I then turned my attention back to Daniel Morgan.
Klein spoke again, his voice quieter.
“Rumor has it that Connie met Daniel at the Morgan residence while searching for William. Back then, William’s mother was still alive, so Connie didn’t stand a chance with him.”
“But after William’s mother passed away, Connie made her move. Daniel, once so wise and capable, was completely taken by her. When they had their wedding, most people sent gifts, but none of them attended the banquet. It’s said that they were both quite embarrassed by that.”
I felt a knot form in my stomach.
“It seems that Daniel doesn’t care about anything else for the sake of love. However, he built K.G. Software Company by himself. Now Connie has become the manager of the development department. Does he really want to destroy his company in her hands?”
I didn’t understand why a man would become so foolish when he was infatuated, just like Ryan, who had abandoned me and my mother when he fell in love with Connie.
“I’ve heard about this too. William has come to me many times to complain about it. He said that the old man is threatening him now. If he doesn’t marry Emma soon, his inheritance will be stripped away. That’s why William has no choice but to go along with the old man and Emma. William is very depressed, but Emma is very happy.”
Klein continued.

Klein nodded.
