Chapter 587:
Jeremy gave a lecherous grin.
“That’s exactly why I haven’t divorced her yet. I want to find a woman I actually love and be with her.”
He stepped forward to put his arm around my shoulder, but I swiftly sidestepped him.
“I need to think about it. Besides, I need to investigate you first.”
With that, I turned and walked away.
I had no intention of getting involved with Jeremy. I was simply buying time. I couldn’t let him make trouble for me until I had completed my task. Jeremy quickly caught up to me and asked, “So, how long do you need to think about it?”
I shrugged, “Five days.”
If I couldn’t figure out a way in the next five days, I wouldn’t be able to complete this case within 20 days. At that point, I’d leave the company and sever all ties with Jeremy.
“Then I’ll wait for you,” he said.
I heard Jeremy’s excited voice coming from behind me.
Herbert’s POV:
I saw a man pestering Bella.
“Mr. Wharton, why don’t you find someone to teach that man a lesson?” Connor asked. My mind was filled with the image of that man harassing Bella just now. I couldn’t wait to chop off the man’s hand.
“I want to see his detailed information.”
“Yes,” Connor nodded. I looked out of the window. Bella got in a taxi and disappeared completely from my sight.
“Let’s go back!” I said. Connor nodded, and then he started the engine.
Ever since Bella rejected me in person last time, I had never appeared in front of her.
In fact, only God knew how much I missed her in my heart. But my strong self-esteem didn’t allow me to pester her. So, I bought another Rolls-Royce. Bella wouldn’t recognize my car. I often asked Connor to drive to the place where Bella always appeared. In fact, most of the time, I could only look at Bella from a distance.
But this was the only way to ease my pain of longing. If I forced myself to appear in front of Bella, it would only make her hate me even more.
Bella’s POV:
It was Friday. In the evening, both Lucas and Lucky were sent over by Herbert.
I was busy in the kitchen for two hours and finally got dinner ready.
Joey said with a smile, “It smells so good! It looks delicious at first glance. I got an opportunity to have a big meal because of the two kids.”
I smiled at Joey, picked up a chicken wing, and put it in Lucas’s bowl beside him.
“Thank you, mommy.”
