Chapter 549:
Mother’s anger was evident.
“What do you mean? Do you treat marriage as a game?”
“Mother, the truth is, it’s all my fault…” I tried to explain, but Klein moved to speak. I stopped him with a gesture.
“There’s no right or wrong in love. I’ll explain everything to my mother. You can go.”
Klein hesitated for a moment, then nodded in silence.
“Mom, I’m leaving now!” he said, walking out of the lounge.
Once he left, my mother began to sob.
“Bella, I know you’ve always been independent. From now on, I won’t ask about your affairs anymore. It’s up to you to decide,” she said, her voice filled with disappointment. She covered her mouth and turned to leave.
I began to cry as well. I walked over to Jane and reached out to hold Lucky in my arms. The moment I held her, my eyes filled with tears. The man who should have been my husband had left. My mother had left. Betty hated me…
“Good thing I still have you,” I whispered as I gently pulled down the low-cut wedding dress and fed Lucky milk. While feeding her, I cried quietly.
Half an hour later, Lucky fell asleep in my arms, but my arms had gone numb. Seeing this, Jane quickly stepped forward, took Lucky from me, and placed her in the stroller.
I looked at myself in the mirror. I still hadn’t removed my makeup, and I was still wearing the wedding dress.
“Jane, go back first. I’ll be there after I remove my makeup and change,” I ordered.
“Okay,” Jane nodded before pushing the stroller with Lucky out of the lounge.
Once Jane left, I sat in front of the mirror, removed the jewelry from my earlobes and neck, and wiped off the elaborate makeup with a tissue. Twenty minutes later, I had taken off my expensive wedding dress and makeup, revealing a woman in simple clothes. I put on a black fur coat, grabbed my bag, and left the lounge.
Walking into the church, I saw staff dismantling the posters, flowers, and wedding decorations. Some guests were still sitting, chatting quietly. It felt like I had become a different person. No, I still had Lucas and Lucky. I wouldn’t be alone this time, and the feeling of being single again was different. Though I felt a deep sadness, I still had a sense of determination. I wanted to live my life. I wanted to live a better life.
At that moment, as I looked up, I suddenly saw a familiar figure standing at the exit of the church. The man was looking at me with a blank expression on his face. I knew he was waiting for me.
Bella’s POV:
“Long time no see!” I greeted Ella with a smile.
There wasn’t a hint of a smile on Ella’s face. After hesitating for a moment, she said, “Bella, I came here to attend your wedding with Klein. I wanted to give you my blessings, but I didn’t expect things to turn out like this.”
“I’m sorry for wasting your time,” I replied.
Ella had secretly been in love with Klein. If I didn’t marry him, would she be happy? After all, no one would willingly watch someone they loved marry someone else.
