Chapter 521:
Klein nodded.
“Okay. I support your decision.”
With a bright smile, I reached out and stroked Klein’s face. From the bottom of my heart, I said, “Klein, thank you.”
“We don’t need to say thanks,” Klein replied, lowering his head to place a soft kiss on my forehead.
Bella’s POV:
The next morning, I went to find Herbert again. I stopped his car directly.
“Bella, are you looking for me?” Herbert’s voice was filled with excitement.
I didn’t want to engage in his enthusiastic words, so I got straight to the point.
“I want to do a DNA test with Lucas.”
Herbert hesitated for a moment before nodding.
“Okay, I promise. When are we going?”
“Now,” I replied.
Herbert smiled.
“Everything is up to you. You decide which hospital to go to, though the results will be the same.”
I handed him a business card.
“This identification center is the largest and most authoritative in the city. I made an appointment this morning. An hour from now, you’ll meet me here with Lucas.”
Herbert glanced at the business card in his hand and said, “I’ll call the nanny and have her bring Lucas down. Why don’t we go together?”
I refused.
“No need. Someone’s waiting for me there.”
I glanced at Klein’s car behind me. Herbert smiled and said, “You’re really cautious around me.”
“You’ve done too many things that are untrustworthy,” I replied.
“I’m leaving now. See you at the identification center,” I said before turning and walking toward Klein’s car.
An hour later, I found myself pacing in the corridor of the center. The corridor was empty, and I still couldn’t see Herbert or Lucas. Klein tried to calm me down.
“Don’t be nervous. They’ll probably arrive soon.”
“Looking at the time, they should have been here by now. What if he changes his mind?” I asked.
Klein thought for a moment and replied, “If he doesn’t show up, it means he’s lying.”
After waiting for another half hour, I called Connor.
“Connor, I want to know why Herbert hasn’t brought Lucas to the identification center,” I asked.
Connor hesitated for a few seconds before answering, “I’m sorry, Miss Stepanek. Please wait a little longer. They’ll be there soon.”
“Alright, I’ll wait another half hour. If they haven’t arrived by then, I’ll assume Herbert doesn’t want me to do the DNA test with Lucas. Everything he says is a lie!”
