Chapter 457:
I brought Klein inside. When my mother saw him and the gift boxes, she was completely stunned.
“Mom, nice to meet you!” Klein stepped forward and bowed.
My mother turned to look at me and asked, “Bella, what did this gentleman call me? Who is he?”
At first, I wasn’t sure how to introduce him. I wanted him to meet my mother and help quiet those nosy neighbors. But Klein was so engrossed in the role that he’d played it too well.
“Mom, he is…”
I hesitated.
“Mom, I’m Lucky’s father,” Klein said, smiling.
“Are you Lucky’s father?” my mother asked, not reacting at first.
“Yes,” Klein nodded.
Upon hearing this, my mother immediately scolded him.
“You’ve left Bella and Lucky with me for months, and I haven’t seen you. Are you still a man? Do you know how much they’ve suffered here? Do you even deserve to be a father?”
“Mom, I know I was wrong. It’s not that I didn’t want to come, it’s that Bella… she wouldn’t let me. I really want to take responsibility,” Klein tried to explain earnestly.
I touched my head, realizing that the scene was a little chaotic.
But Klein was incredibly skilled at handling situations. In just a few minutes, he had already calmed my mother down. In fact, she seemed to have warmed up to him. At the very least, she no longer seemed angry.
Soon, my mother invited him to sit on the sofa and asked me to prepare coffee.
I listened to their conversation in the kitchen.
Mother asked, “What’s your occupation?”
“I’m a lawyer. I own a law firm,” Klein replied.
“Do you have any other family members?” Mother asked again.
“My mother passed away a long time ago, and my grandmother is still alive. She’s very fond of me. My father remarried a long time ago, so we don’t live together,” Klein answered with a smile.
Mother, still curious, asked, “Do you own a house?”
“In A City, I have an apartment, a villa in the suburbs, and a few office buildings. I bought them myself. My mother’s properties are mainly in the provincial capital and the capital city,” Klein explained.
At this point, mother remained silent. I stole a glance at her and could tell she was stunned. I quickly made my way out with the coffee.
As I set the cup in front of Klein, I noticed that he was smiling at me, exuding confidence. Mother then said to him, “Have a cup of coffee first.”
She then gently pulled me to the balcony.
Bella’s POV:
Mother closed the sliding door on the balcony and asked in a low voice, “What’s going on?”
