Then, Klein reached out and patted the seat next to him.
I frowned, unsure of what he was about to say. Turning around, I sat down on the sofa.
Klein spoke up.
“Today, William invited me to play golf and chat with him. Guess what? Emma was there too.”

“That’s not surprising. William is rich and handsome. Of course, Emma would do everything she can to win his heart. Wherever he goes, she’s bound to follow.”
“I planned to warn William about Emma—about her true nature and everything she’s done in the past. He’s a good friend of mine, and I don’t want him to end up with such a terrible woman. “That was the idea. But when I saw how close they were, I suddenly changed my mind.”
“Are you afraid he won’t believe you? Or that telling him would ruin your friendship?” I frowned, trying to guess his reasoning.
Klein shook his head.
“No. I know William well. Even if he doesn’t believe me right away, it wouldn’t affect our friendship. And besides, everything I wanted to say is the truth. If he ever doubts me, all he has to do is investigate, and he’ll find out everything himself.”
“Then why didn’t you say anything?” I asked, confused.
Klein stood up and began pacing the living room.
“William is a proud man. If he hears about Emma’s past from me, it’ll hurt his ego.”
“So I decided to hold back. He’s in love, and for now, I’ll let him enjoy it. But I can’t let Emma get away with everything either. William has already spent a fortune on her—I can’t allow him to suffer too much. And as for Emma… she needs to be taught a lesson. I’ll make sure she falls hard. I’ll make sure she feels real pain.”
I raised an eyebrow.
“I didn’t expect you to have such a dark side. Looks like I should never get on your bad side, or I’ll meet a miserable end.”
“Don’t you think Emma deserves it?” Klein asked.
I nodded.
“No matter how things turn out, she brought this upon herself.”
“I’ll make sure that anyone who hurts you suffers as well,” he added.
