Bride of Mr. Billion - Chapter 404

Chapter 405:

I looked up at him, and Klein immediately explained, “You have a baby now. You need proper rest. The second bedroom is next to the study. I usually stay in the study until midnight before heading back to my bedroom to sleep. I just don’t want to disturb your rest. There’s no other intention behind it.”

Hearing this, I frowned. I was still a little hesitant. I planned to stay here for only a short time, but Klein had already given up his room for me, which didn’t sit right with me.

Klein continued, “The maid has already moved all my belongings into the secondary bedroom. It will be inconvenient for us to keep moving back and forth, so why don’t you stay in that room for now?”

Seeing how nervous Klein was, I had no choice but to nod.

“All right, then. I’ll temporarily occupy your bedroom. I’ll return it to you when I can.”

“Fine. I’ll collect rent if you don’t return it in time,” Klein joked, laughing heartily.

Since the decision was made, I stayed there peacefully for the time being. Klein spent most of his time working outside. He left very early in the morning and came back late at night, which made me feel much more at ease.

The maid, Jane, whom Klein had hired, would come every day to clean and cook. The food she made was delicious, and I was grateful that Klein had been so helpful during this difficult time for me. Slowly, I began to feel that my body had recovered quite a bit.

One day, as Jane was preparing lunch in the kitchen, I decided to clean the living room. After all, I had been living there for a few days, and I wanted to help out in some way.

However, Jane immediately ran over, grabbed the vacuum cleaner from my hands, and said nervously, “Miss Stepanek, you don’t have to do housework. You need to sit down and rest.”

At Jane’s insistence, I reluctantly sat on the sofa.

“Jane, I’m fine. I can actually do a little exercise,” I said, feeling that Jane was being too overprotective.

Jane, holding the vacuum, looked at me with worry in her eyes.

“No, Boss has told me many times that I can’t let you do housework. You’re pregnant now, and the baby matters the most.”

“He’s exaggerating,”

I tried to stand up, but Jane quickly pulled me back onto the sofa.

“Madam, Boss pays my salary, and I must listen to him. He entrusted you to me, so I have to keep an eye on you. I can’t let you do any housework!”

I had no choice but to stay seated.

“Alright, alright, I’ll sit here,” I said, sighing in resignation.

“That’s better,” Jane replied with a satisfied nod before hurrying into the kitchen. Moments later, she returned with a pot of vegetables and sat in front of me, picking through them while keeping a watchful eye on me, as if afraid I would try to do something.

“Miss Stepanek, you’re so lucky,” she suddenly blurted out.
