Chapter 291:
Amy looked at me with surprise in her eyes.
“Do you really want to be fired?”
Selina shouted at Amy like a furious animal, venting all her frustration on her. Although I was also angry, I had already resigned. If I let myself get angry at Selina, it would only fuel her temper, and she would end up taking it out on Amy.
“I should call you ‘manager’ now. Your subordinates can help you with your work. Your attitude is not very good,” I said calmly, but this only seemed to make Selina angrier.
“Amy is my subordinate now. You’ve left the company, so you’re not in a position to command me. Do you want Vivian to give you another beating before you shut up?” Selina snapped, glaring at me arrogantly. I didn’t care much about her words, and I didn’t want to continue this pointless confrontation. I walked straight toward my office, saying, “I don’t have time to argue with you. I’m here to take my things today!”
Just as I was about to enter, Selina stepped forward and blocked the door.
“What’s the meaning of this?” I asked, raising an eyebrow.
“This is my office, and my belongings are inside. What if you try to steal something when you go in?” Selina smirked, her smile cold and sinister.
“As for your things, I’ve already asked Amy to move them to the storage room. You can go and get them yourself. I’m very busy, so I don’t have time to entertain you!” She turned and walked into her office, slamming the door behind her.
At that moment, Amy hurried over and whispered, “Manager, shall I take you to get your things? I’ve already sorted them out for you.”

I knew the storage room was a mess. It was used to store cleaning tools, so it was clear just how much Selina despised me.
“You can call me Bella from now on,” I said, not wanting to cause any more trouble for Amy. I swallowed my anger and followed her to the storage room to collect my things.
The room was indeed chaotic, but despite the mess, my belongings were neatly packed into a box without any damage. Whoever had packed them had been careful and thorough. I was grateful to Amy for taking the time to do that.
I picked up the suitcase, but Amy seemed reluctant to let me go.
“Bella, are you really not going to stay at the company?” she asked, concern in her voice.
“My contract has been terminated. If I hadn’t been busy with the exams, I would’ve come to collect my things a month ago,” I replied, holding Amy’s hand.
“I really miss the days when I worked with you,” she said, looking helpless.
I felt a pang of discomfort, knowing that Amy was a good, honest person, and she was no match for someone like Selina. Plus, with Selina and Vivian being relatives, Amy would likely continue to suffer in this company. I had to try to help her.
“Amy, you deserve better than this. Don’t let Selina take advantage of you,” I said gently.
“You can do so much more.”
“Amy, in fact, you are someone with both strong work abilities and a stable character. It would be better for you to go to another company,” I said gently.
Amy was a smart girl, and she should understand what I meant.
“Bella, I would also like to go work somewhere else, but my family is in a difficult position. If I want to start a new job, I would have to wait a long time before I can earn what I make now. I rent a place on my own, and I send living expenses home every month. I can’t afford to change jobs right now. Actually, she asked me to resign, but now no one can take over my role. If she wants to hire a newcomer, it’ll take time before they can perform well. Plus, the boss values me. He doesn’t trust Selina completely, and he won’t just take her word for it.”
Amy voiced her concerns, and I could tell how much she was struggling with the decision.
