Chapter 248:
Amy didn’t respond but instead looked at Klein.
I turned and glared at Klein, seething with anger.
“Who slapped Bella?”
“It’s…”
Klein hesitated.
“Say it!”
This only made me angrier.
After a moment of silence, Klein finally responded, “Vivian suddenly came back. She was impulsive… and slapped Bella. I didn’t expect the consequences to be… so serious.”
Hearing those words, I stepped forward, clenched my fist, and punched Klein squarely in the face!
I put quite a bit of strength behind it, and the corner of Klein’s lips began to bleed.
“Are you out of your mind? Why didn’t you stop Vivian? Did she hit her so hard that she became deaf? Impulsive? This is intentional harm!” I yelled, pointing at Klein.
“Since you care so much about her, you could’ve kept her by your side. Besides, who are you to her now? Do you have the right to criticize me?”
Klein responded coldly.
My anger grew even more. I punched him again.
“I warned you long ago to stay away from her. If it weren’t for you, Bella wouldn’t have been hurt!”
Klein didn’t back down. He reached out and punched me right back.
“Bella isn’t your personal property. What gives you the right to warn me?”
The tension between us escalated, and we began to fight, until Amy shouted, “Stop! Bella fainted!”
We froze instantly and rushed over to Bella and Amy at the same time.
“Bella, how are you feeling?”
Klein and I spoke simultaneously.
I pushed Klein aside and took Bella from Amy’s hands. Then, I bent down and carefully picked her up. Turning around, I called out, “Doctor! Doctor!”
Bella’s POV:
When I woke up again, it was already the next day.
I felt a constant ringing in my ears, and my head throbbed with pain. The sensation was truly uncomfortable. I opened my eyes and saw that the sky had brightened. I was lying in a hospital bed. The room was quiet, and I still couldn’t hear anything.
In the blink of an eye, I noticed a large figure curled up in a chair by my bed, with his head resting on the edge of the bed. He had fallen asleep, though his posture looked uncomfortable.
Herbert had stayed by my side all night. The thought of it made me feel both touched and distressed.
I was deeply moved because he had been taking care of me, but my heart ached knowing that he hadn’t been able to sleep well. My hand reached for his thick hair, but it froze in the air. I didn’t dare to touch him, so I quickly retracted my hand.
After a while, I sat up.
