Chapter 186:
Just as I was trying to figure out what to do, a black car suddenly stopped in front of me. The window rolled down, and Klein’s face appeared.
“Come in. I’ll give you a ride,” he said.
“Okay,” I responded, grateful that I couldn’t get a taxi in the rain. I happily agreed and got into the passenger seat. Klein started the car.
“My house is just a few hundred meters away. You can drop me off at the intersection,” I said with a smile.
“Okay!” he replied.
A few hundred meters away, Klein sneezed several times in a row.
“Boss, did you catch a cold?” I frowned and asked.
“A bit,” Klein nodded.
“Then take your medicine quickly,” I reminded him.
“It doesn’t matter. I’m strong,”
Klein was very confident in his own body. Since he had already said so, it wasn’t appropriate for me to continue persuading him. After all, the relationship between Klein and me was one of boss and subordinate. I shouldn’t be meddling in his personal matters.
Just then, my phone rang. I looked down and saw that it was Joey calling, so I quickly answered.
“What time are you coming back? I’m at your door. I bought some food for you. Let’s eat hotpot today.”
Joey’s voice came through the speaker.
“Okay, I’ll be there in two minutes.”
I hung up the phone. In this city, Joey and I were best friends. She often bought food and came over to eat with me. I knew she was afraid I’d feel lonely, so she always made the effort to keep me company. I was so grateful to have such a good friend.
“Your family urged you?” Klein asked.
“Yes,” I replied.
Joey was my family. She was closer to me than anyone else. Klein chuckled.
“That’s wonderful.”
“Bella, in fact, I appreciate you very much. In my impression, you work diligently and have a very sincere character. You handle things with a steady hand, never engaging in any office politics, and you don’t push others away. I feel very comfortable entrusting you with important tasks. You manage them so well without ever complaining.”
I didn’t expect Klein to suddenly praise me like this. It made me feel happy.
“Thank you for your compliment, Boss.”
“You don’t have to be so formal. In the company, I’m your boss, but when we’re outside, we can be friends. Just call me Klein.”
“Alright, Klein. Thank you for your appreciation. I’ll definitely keep focusing on my work,” I said sincerely.
Klein smiled and nodded.
“I’m home now. See you tomorrow!”
I waved at Klein, then quickly jumped out of the car, covering my head with a bag, and hurried inside.
When I got upstairs, most of my body was wet.
