Bride of Mr. Billion – Chapter 158

Bride of Mr. Billion - Chapter 158

Chapter 158:

“He sent me to the best hospital, bought me the most expensive food, and hired a professional servant to take care of me. Isn’t that nice of him?” I said, looking at Hank.

I was the only one who truly understood how false my words were. I just wanted his sincerity, but it was an illusion to expect sincerity from a man like that.

Bella’s POV:

Hank asked me, “The expensive food, the best house, and the care of the servants… Are they what you want?”

I knew this was a perfect opportunity to make him give up on me completely, so I intentionally replied, “Right! That’s exactly what I want. Living a luxurious life is my goal. My husband is now the president of the Wharton Group. I’m very happy!”

Hank released my shoulders, his expression growing sad.

“It turns out that you are such a vain woman.”

“So, don’t think about me anymore. You deserve someone better,” I said, smiling at him before turning away.

I didn’t look back, not wanting to give Hank any false hope. I lifted my head and walked away, though I felt a tinge of sadness. If Hank didn’t have feelings for me, we could’ve been good friends. But I knew he liked me, and I didn’t feel the same. To avoid hurting him any more, I had to draw a firm line between us. Love was like this: the one you loved didn’t love you, and the one who loved you never got your acknowledgment. I truly wished Hank could find the happiness he deserved.

I also noticed that Betty seemed to have a good impression of Hank. She could have given him my phone number, but she hadn’t. It seemed my dear sister liked him too. However, there was a huge age gap between Betty and Hank, and Hank’s feelings were for me, not her. Betty wouldn’t be happy if she fell in love with him. It was like how Herbert loved Caroline, and I loved Herbert. That kind of feeling was painful.

The next week passed, and Herbert didn’t come. I couldn’t help but wonder why he hadn’t come to discuss the divorce. Was he waiting for me to recover? Or had he forgotten about me completely?

That day, Joey invited me to go shopping.

“You should get out more, go shopping, buy some nice clothes and bags. It’ll lift your spirits, and when you’re in a good mood, you’ll feel much better,” Joey said, trying to cheer me up as she pulled me along.

“Well, I’ll buy a few more bags today,” I said with a smile. It had been a long time since I’d used the card Herbert gave me. Once I wasn’t Mrs. Wharton anymore, I wouldn’t have the right to use that card. So, while I still could, I thought I might as well spend some.

I had another small thought in mind. The phone number registered with the card was Herbert’s. Every time I used it, the expense record would be sent to his phone. Maybe it would remind him that he had a wife, and that he hadn’t seen her in a long time.

As we passed by a jewelry store, Joey pointed to a diamond-studded necklace in the display case and said, “This necklace is beautiful. But it’s too expensive—$20,000! I’ll buy it once I get rich.”

Hearing this, I couldn’t help but laugh. Then I looked up and suddenly saw two familiar figures standing in front of the diamond ring counter not far away. I froze.

Joey also saw them and said, “It’s so depressing that we run into those two while shopping.”

I couldn’t control my feet and found myself walking toward them, step by step, my heart sinking. One of them was my husband, Herbert, and the other was his lover, Caroline. I stopped a short distance away, watching as the salesgirl enthusiastically introduced the products.

“Sir, Miss, are you looking for a wedding ring? This is a world-class brand, first-class design, and top-tier diamond quality,” the salesperson said.
