Bride of Mr. Billion – Chapter 133

Bride of Mr. Billion - Chapter 133

Chapter 133:

She even argued with me and wanted to divorce me for Hank?

Thinking about that man, I couldn’t help but feel rage. Divorce? That was something that absolutely couldn’t happen. To prevent Bella from continuing to look for him, I kept her on the mountain.

To avoid hearing about divorce again and to protect Bella’s mood, I did my best to stay away from her.

Meeting her just once a month was both what I looked forward to the most and feared the most. That woman always knew how to provoke my anger.

At that moment, I was smoking in the back seat of the car. The window was half open, and the air inside was still a little suffocating. But at that moment, I didn’t care. I felt utterly lonely and defeated.

“Connor,” I called out my assistant’s name.

“Mr. Wharton, are you alright? I’ve never seen you like this before,” Connor replied.

After a moment, I said, “Why is there such a woman? No matter how good I am to her, it’s like she can’t perceive it. Why is she always so aggressive towards me?”

“Are you talking about Mrs. Wharton?” Connor asked.

At that moment, I suddenly laughed at myself.

“How can I tell you this? You’re neither married nor in love. You’re not as experienced as me.”

Hearing this, Connor held the steering wheel and smiled.

“It’s precisely because I think women are troublesome that I’m not in a relationship.”

“That’s because you haven’t met a woman who can tempt you,” I replied, looking out of the window at the dark mountains.

“Mr. Wharton, right now, you’re a bit…” Connor trailed off, not finishing his sentence.

“What’s wrong?” I asked casually.

“You’re a bit worried about your relationship,” Connor said.

All these years, Connor had been my assistant. In addition to our professional relationship, we had a good personal rapport. When there was no one else around, we would talk like friends. Connor always knew what to say, which was one of the reasons why he was my most trusted assistant. That’s why, when he said those words, I didn’t feel angry.

“You dare to laugh at me?” I asked.

I couldn’t help but laugh.

“I don’t dare, I don’t dare,” Connor quickly responded, raising his hands in mock surrender. After a moment of teasing, I felt much better.

Ring, ring…

Suddenly, my phone rang in the car. I pulled it out and saw the flashing number on the screen. I frowned slightly but still answered the call.

“Hello?”

“Herbert, didn’t you say you would come to see me tonight? It’s almost 10 o’clock now. Why haven’t you come yet?” It was Caroline’s gentle voice.

I hesitated and replied, “I’m sorry, Caroline. I have something to do tonight, so I can’t come to see you.”

“What’s the matter? Is it business or something private?” Caroline asked tentatively.

When I heard her question, I became a little impatient.
