Chapter 57:
After much pleading with my father, his Beta handed me a tracking device, allowing me to monitor the battle’s progress.
It was a relief to see that we were on the winning side. The King’s army was vast, overwhelming the enemy in sheer numbers and skill.
Before long, the invaders began to retreat, disappearing into the portal from which they had emerged. But the warriors gave them no chance to escape—hunting them down and eliminating them without hesitation.
A surge of triumph filled me as I saw the relief on my people’s faces.
I had made the right choice.
Even if it was reckless, it was necessary.
No more lives needed to be lost.
A sigh of relief escaped me when the device beeped, indicating that my father was receiving medical treatment.
He would recover soon.
And now, there was no need to run anymore.
But my mother… she wouldn’t stop crying.
The weight of her sorrow was unbearable. Unable to witness her tears any longer, I left the room, leaving her in the care of the Beta.
Poor Mum.
She was about to lose her only child in the cruelest way imaginable.
A crushing wave of guilt settled over me, whispering that I had caused my parents unbearable pain. That my reckless choices had hurt them more than they could bear.

But what other choice did I have?
This was the only way to save my people. To save my parents.
My mother’s tear-streaked face haunted my thoughts, making me waver, making me want to turn back.
But it was too late.
There was no turning back now.
The Alpha King was not a man to play games with.
Sacrificing myself to him had been my decision, and there was no turning back, no matter how much regret weighed on me.
I could only hope I hadn’t made the wrong choice.
I could only hope my parents would forgive me.
A replacement would have been ideal, but my father had long since abandoned the idea of taking another mistress, and my mother—despite every effort—could never conceive again. No matter how strong my father was, her body simply would not allow it.
I was a miracle child.
That was why they had spoiled me, indulging my every wish, fulfilling my every desire.
A small smile formed on my tear-stained face when the warriors returned with their report—our pack was finally safe.
